Bucky Brooks' latest mock (has us passing on Patterson). Hmmph.

I think Patterson will be a player in the NFL for someone and he will likely be chosen in the first round. The issue for us is he the definite BPA for us at 14?? Much of that will depend on whether we have any cap space to do anything in free agency before the draft. If not, then Gettleman has already said that protecting Newton was a primary goal which suggest OL. Secondly we have bug needs at corner especially if we don't sign Munnerlyn. The issue is really how does a receiver fit in our needs and whether we see him as a dominant must have guy if he is available or whether he is a want but not a critical need at that point.

It isn't whether we want him but does he trump everything else.

Patterson had 1 year of major college football coaching, and still lead the SEC in all purpose yards. every mistake he is getting hit for, is correctable with coaching. people dont like the compare but he does remind you of a poor man Julio Jones.almost the same body type and athleticism. the big difference in the 2 is Julio had 3 years at Bama, getting the proper coaching compared to Cordarrelle having 1 year.

he is more than just a KR.

But but I read his stats (once) and they didn't look as good as would like...

The problem was Patterson has lost a lot of the "physical freak" buzz he was getting before the combine. He was shorter then listed and wasn't as fast as people thought he would be. Then he wasn't as good on the drills when it came to hands and route running. Then you look at the film and see a lot of his flash plays were on gimmick offensive plays and special team returns. Not a lot on actual plays you want your "WR" to do.

Would you trade 5 picks to get Patterson? If not then he is not a Julio type to you.

I haven't looked at any of his stats, I have only seen highlight videos and I watched everything on him at the combine. It's too late to try and teach a guy how to catch without using his body especially a first round pick. If we were able to take him in the 2nd or later then I would say it would be worth it but the value is just not there at 14 with all the other needs on the team.

So he's a bigger Joe Adams? About the same actual WR stats.

you dk until after he gets on the field. how many on here was saying the Falcons gave to much up for Julio me inlcuded? looks like they got the better deal out of that trade, there offense is one of the best.so he accomplished what Joe Adams did in 4 years, compared to CP 1.

He was a top 5 pick before the trade. Is Patterson? No. And the fact that even in your WR loving heart you would lose your poo if the Panthers traded 5 picks to get Patterson. So no Patterson is not a Julio type.
