Game 30: Carolina Hurricanes (15-12-2) vs. New Jersey Devils (13-11-6)

Recommended Posts

The Carolina Hurricanes are back at it tonight as they take on the New Jersey Devils at PNC Arena. The Hurricanes are currently in a slump that has them playing their worst hockey of the year. Luckily for them they will get an important body back in Tuomo Ruutu as most of the players on the offensive end are injury free. However, the Canes have had a huge set back on the defensive end with Justin Faulk and Joe Corvo both going down. Brett Bellemore will step in and get his first taste of NHL action in place for Faulk tonight.

The Canes will roll with the following lineup...

Jiri Tlusty - Eric Staal - Alexander Semin

Jeff Skinner - Jordan Staal - Patrick Dwyer

Drayson Bowman - Riley Nash - Jussi Jokinen

Tuomo Ruutu - Tim Brent - Adam Hall

Jay Harrison - Tim Gleason

Joni Pitkanen - Jamie McBain

Bobby Sanguinetti - Brett Bellemore

Dan Ellis

Justin Peters

Inactive: Kevin Westgarth, Tim Wallace, Zach Boychuk

Injured: Joe Corvo (lower body), Chad LaRose (concussion), Justin Faulk (knee), Cam Ward (knee)

As far as the Devils are concerned, they will get their number one goaltender back tonight, Martin Broudeur. However, they will be without Dainus Zubrus and possibly Alexei Ponikarovsky and Andrei Loktionov.

Go Canes!!!

Wtf just happened, I missed it.

Canes in Devils zone. Canes drew a delayed penalty in Devils Zone. Ellis skates to the bench so the 6th skater can come in. Jordan passes to Gleason. Gleason can't reach it. Puck goes out of the Devil's zone, bounces off the side board and into our own net.

    • I love  almost everything  we did in the offseason but we still have Bryce.  They have to be favored.     Sorry I just can’t see him as an asset yet.  His first chance to prove me wrong.    And WIliams was a LOT better last year than 2024.  He will probably still be getting better before he hits his plateau.
    • Outside of both having very good straight line speed, I don't see much in common. Chark was mostly a play action Chuck it deep type of receiver. Brazzell, while raw with route running, is fully capable of running most routes. He is way better at using his body to shield defenders from the ball than chark and does a better job attacking the ball and creating a wide catch radius. Agree Brazzell will need to prove he can beat the press and I imagine he will see a lot of it when he is on the field. I still think he has quite a bit of development to go through (particularly with his route running, press beat techniques, and reading zone coverage), so I don't expect to see him on the field much this year (barring injuries)
