If they want a realistic shot at the playoffs they need to do it now, then do it some more in the off season, then more the next off season. The franchises talent pool at D is incredibly weak and needs to be focused on the next couple years.

Hell the Hurricanes talent pool is pretty weak all around except for a couple of guys.

I don't know if it matters much when you're down to the 3rd and 4th goalies. Unless we start putting up 4-5 goals/game we won't win many more. Given that we've put up 4 goals in the last 14 periods, or something like that, there needs to be some major turn around to even think about making the playoffs without a keeper.

I loves me some canes, and I'm flying out from CA for a two game weekend, but I think we're likely done for the year.

He hasn't done anything in the last couple years. Our D has sucked for the past 3 seasons.

our special teams has been abysmal for as long as I can remember, and those can make a huge difference in wins and losses. We have to get better at PP and PK numbers if we want to ever win another cup.
