Stedman Bailey visiting Panthers today

Okay, so now I gotta wonder what it is you dislike about Austin

I know he's undersized, but others his size have been successful and he's looked durable so far. What's got you turned off on him as a Panther?

Size mainly he weights 174 at the end of the season. He should have gained some weight before the combine. To me he needs to add atleast 20 pounds on or he wont last long in the NFL. So would have liked to seen that. Also 14 imo is too high for the risk of him getting injured. If he didnt rise so quickly in the draft would have loved to seen the Panthers pick him up in the mid 20's.

Dont get me wrong think he will be a great player if he gets his weight up. If not he will be out of the league in 2 years. Rather the Panthers get a solid CB or DT at 14 that you know will be there for 4-5 years.

you guys should know more than me, but does Geno always have enough time to bake a cake? with little big man and steady running wild how could you not look good on that team. I will say he does have finesse.

WVU offesive line is very underrated. But when they get beat or dont give him time Geno looks pedestrian.

Look at any Syracuse game and the Texas tech game for a good read on Geno.

He had more time early in the season than he did in later games

As far as mobility/athleticism, Smith's not really an RG3 type. He can run some, but if I were a DC I wouldn't be sweating much about it.

From what I've seen though, he is somewhat "pocket mobile". Pocket awareness might need some work though, but that's why you have coaches. They coach him up right, I think he'll do pretty well.

(obviously it won't be with us, but I like to think he'll be successful whatever team he goes to)

Said a while back I thought 14 was too high for him, but as time has gone on I've warmed more to the idea. Guess we'll see in a few weeks.

In the end, if it's not us, please Lord don't let him wind up in the division lighting it up for someone else :(

(I think I'd cry)

That is one thing that worries me the 13th pick could be taking Austin. They could invision him being their "smitty".

But dont get me wrong if we take Austin at 14 I will be thrilled. He will become my favorite Panther.

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
