Two 2014 Recievers not named Lee or Watkins

Recommended Posts

I doubt Benjamin gets a first round grade only because this upcoming draft will be so stacked with talent that first round prospects will fall into the second round.

All of them got Top 25 grades. So much talent is going to get pushed back into the later rounds as a result. Benjamin could slip into the third round along with Robinson.

i think he does, based off what his ceiling is.  the grading system is based off the highest round you are projected at and if all those guys do have such high grades, then this class is extremely deep. also a lot was being said about Cordarrelle Patterson going in the 1st, but he did. not to many guys 6'5 230 can run a sub 4.5 and high point the football like this.

on his 3rd TD he turn his head inside, seen the ball was outside so he turned his head the other way and located the football. after which he caught the ball over the shoulder.

People who have played reciever or even CF in baseball can appreciate a catch like this one so much more. It takes incredible skill to be able to keep tracking the ball, while having your back turned to the ball, and turning your head around to your other shoulder.

found this nugget on rotoworld about KB.

Florida State redshirt sophomore WR Kelvin Benjamin caught nine passes for 212 yards and three touchdowns in the school's 37-7 win over Florida.

Benjamin is one of the top draft-eligible receiver talents, but isn't frequently discussed among prospects at the position. We think there is a good chance he declares, since Benjamin turns 23 in February. He dominates at the catch point, which is a vital skill in today's NFL.

this site last year was one of the first to say that if Patterson declares he would be a 1st rounder.

You have to understand though the reason why Patterson went in the first round was because The Vikings traded away Harvin and they needed a replacement. Many viewed Patterson as a second round talent mostly because he was so raw but that didn't stop Minnesota from reaching (they did it twice in fact -- Sharrif Floyd). Regardless, that doesn't confirm anything but I don't see Benjamin going in the first.

his grade from the board was projected as high as a 1st rounder, which is where he went.dont remember many stating CP was a second round talent after the combine because again his size, athleticism, and skill set, are elite worthy if he reaches his ceiling. same with Benjamin, im not saying he is a sure first rounder, but he could and probably will get a 1st-2nd round grade from the board.

Considering the fact that he dropped so far, I don't think so. No one was looking to take Patterson in the first round. His shaky hands, subpar route-running, lack of physicality, low football IQ, etc outweighed his athletic gifts.

that makes no sense. no one was looking to take CP in the first, but yet he went in the first round. with all of his per say weaknesses, his athletic ability really outweighed those flaws. especially when you see he has only played 1 year of top notch FBS football, so all of your weaknesses are coachable. hands can be coached up and practiced on as well, and looking at his frame he can get physical with anybody at LOS with better coaching, and technique. every WR coming into the league has to work on route running, and football IQ can also be taught.

Since its looking more and more likely that we will be picking later in the draft. I'm seriously afraid that if we don't go WR in the first round, we won't get a chance to draft one of the many WR's that could be legimate 1's in the NFL.

We don't need another LaFell type reciever on this team. Even if we don't re sign LaFell we need a WR that has number 1 potential. Knowing Gettleman's love for "hog mollies" I can see us being disappointed after the draft

    • Not football related, but UNC basketball player Seth Trimble used his NIL money to buy the Ben & Jerry's franchise on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill. https://www.tarheelblog.com/unc-basketball/46475/seth-trimble-now-owns-ben-jerrys-in-chapel-hill Definitely a smarter move than buying a Lambo.
    • I was bored at work today so I typed up my ideas for CFB realignment: D1 college football would be split into 2 tiers of 5 conferences each: Power 5 (P5) and Group of 5 (G5) conferences. To bring the total number of FBS teams to an even 140, the following FCS teams would make the moved up into the G5 tier: North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Montana State and Sacramento State. The P5 tier would consist of 50 teams with 10 teams per conference. Every team would play every other team in it's conference every year. There would be no conference championship games in P5 tier since teams will play each other during the season to provide the head-to-head tie breaker. The G5 tier would consist of 90 teams in 5 conferences of 18 teams split into 2 divisions. Teams would play every team in their division every year along with teams from the other division on a rotating schedule. G5 conference championship games would be held the week following the Army-Navy game between the two division winners from each G5 conference. In the event that Army and Navy are the two division winners in the American conference, the Army-Navy game itself would decide the conference championship. P5 tier would retain the current 12-team playoff structure and seeding rules with the existing Bowl Game rotation remaining in place. G5 tier would use a 16-team playoff with conference champions guaranteed the top-5 seeds + homefield advantage in the 1st round. Seeds 6-16 would be decided by national rankings. Homefield advantage would be decided by seeding in the 2nd round with the G5 National Championship held at a neutral site. There would be a promotion/relegation system in place. Each P5 conference would have a satellite conference in the G5 as follows:  - ACC/American  - Big 10/MAC  - PAC/MWC  - SEC/Sun Belt  - SWC/C-USA Every 5 years the team in each P5 conference with the worst W-L record over the previous 5 seasons would be relegated to their conference's G5 satellite. Likewise, the team with the best W-L record during the previous 5 seasons will be moved up into the P5. Any other movement of teams between conferences would be subject to approval by the CFB Competition Committee and teams are only permitted to switch conferences once every 10 years. The Walter Camp Award will be awarded to the best player in P5 tier. The Maxwell Award will serve as the G5's equivalent award. The Heisman Trophy will be awarded to the best player in the nation, regardless of conference or tier. POWER 5 CONFERENCES: ACC: Clemson Duke Florida State Miami N.C.
