Soccer Summer Transfer Thread...

Recommended Posts

Felt like we needed a thread for this for all the soccer fans here to talk about the transfer window and where players are going.

Neymar to Barcelona seems to be done though not official.

Also heavy signs suggest Isco to Real Madrid, with possibly Cavani following him.

Gareth Bale looks like he's staying a Spur after signing a promotion deal that makes him the face of the EPL next year.

Falcao is going somewhere, the question is where?  My money is on Monaco.

Rooney wants out, and I would be shocked if Cristiano Ronaldo was playing anywhere but Madrid next year despite some rumors that he could be heading to PSG or Chelsea.

Finally one of the best young Strikers on the market Robert Lewandowski looks destined to leave Dortmund, but will the Yellow and Black sell him and Gotze to Bayern in the same season?

The Window opens up in just over a month and there will surely be a ton of movement all around Europe.

Should be fun!!

Neymar to Barca is official, announced via his instagram and the Barca official twitter account.  Next big domino to fall is Lewandowski imo, and Arsene Wenger seems convinced he's been sold to Bayern.  Just dirty what Dortmund has done to their fans this year selling Gotze and Lewandowski to their biggest rivals.  If I was Klopp I would be moving on in my coaching career....

Sounds like both Manchester United and Chelsea are trying to bring Luka Modric back to England.  Chelsea rumored to offer 30 million, but I don't see that being enough with Real paying that just a year ago for him.

Good to hear about Bale... now if we could just pick up a LB, a creative midfielder for when Dimbele has any health issues, and one or two strikers that know how to actually score...

Things are looking up for my Spurs!

I mean he's ultimately bound for Real Madrid.  There's a 50 million buyout clause in his contract for next year, and because of Perez and Levy's working relationship Real will get first crack at him.  By this time next year 50 million for Bale will be an incredible steal....

My guess is Real buys Isco, Cavani and a Right and Center Back this year, lets di Maria play on the Right Wing another season and goes after Bale hard next Summer or possibly in the Winter if Tottenham is falling behind in the league standings (not that I think that will happen).  Then again Zidane seems to be obsessed with Gareth Bale, so it wouldn't totally shock me if they threw out a ridiculous offer Tottenham couldn't refuse.  It's not like money means anything to Madrid, just going to be very hard to move him out of the PL THIS Summer with him signing a marketing deal for next year....

Monaco continues their free spending, signing Ricardo Carvalho as a free agent.  Spent 70 million on Moutinho and Rodriguez, now Carvalho and Falcao is on deck.  They're nowhere near done from what I've read either....

I'm feeling like Zidane is going to go all in on Bale.  Lots of talk coming from Gareth's side via his agent now, saying they would be "honoured to negotiate a move with Real Madrid".  Still think it's going to be tricky with the marketing deal, but feeling like they will just keep adding money till Tottenham can't say no.  No inside info to support this, just a gut feeling after reading quotes from Zidane and Perez about Bale.  Not to mention it's got to be driving Perez insane that Barca beat them for Neymar.  A summer transfer window that sees Bale and Cavani come in to Madrid would make Neymar an afterthought....

Either way it's criminal that a player as good as Gareth Bale isn't playing in the Champions League.

French radio station reporting Monaco has put in a 25.7 million offer to Real Madrid for Angel di Maria.  Don't see that happening unless they are supremely confident they're getting Bale.  di Maria while not exceptional, is a very good player on the wing, and is not expendable unless you're bringing in a much better player at his position....

Bale is a reason Spurs even had a fighting chance for top 4 place. Dude is too good.

Yep, which is why he won't be there more than a year tops.  I honestly think Real Madrid is just going to turn on the unlimited funds cheat and keep putting in offers till Levy and Tottenham cave....

    • Now now now, I wouldn't say there is no logic, but there's just not a lot of in-depth thought put into Barnwell's  "analysis." Now to be fair to him (and other national writers), pre-season team rankings are basically clickbait. And...Barnwell, himself, said that "there's a lot of projection here." He basically admits that he doesn't know how the hell things are going to turn out with our receiver group. He also said that "I find myself" more intrigued by Coker than Legette; that does not mean that he said that fans should be, or that Coker will even be better than Legette (regardless of ESPN's per-route-run stat). So, yeah, Barnwell said some things, but even he has to basically admit that he doesn't know how bad or good that our playmakers will be in 2025.  Overall, what Barnwell is basically thinking is that the Panthers have gotten worse at the offensive skill positions, and baked into that is that others have gotten better. That's the argument in July (meaning, please don't give this any more weight than it's due). I would personally be surprised (not shocked) if we end up worse than the Titans, Pats and Giants at least. Once you throw in the Bills, Giants, Jets, Steelers, and even the Chargers, I personally think there are several teams' skill groups that may end up ranked lower than ours by the end of 2025.  @kungfoodudeis one of my dudes, but like others he is over the tipping point. He's had enough. Seeing is believing. I will say this though: Barnwell's piece is less about logic than just good ol' opinion. And to be honest, he might as well be a Huddler throwing out sh¡t in the summer based upon nothing but good feels or bad feels.  Our offense as a whole (just like any other team's) is going to depend upon the play of the O-line and especially the QB. How you can even rank the skill positions without expressly baking those two things in the cake is beyond me. I would dare say that that's not even logical.
    • Football is not the professional sport where timidness and apprehension are justly rewarded.
    • Bryce Young had a super high floor definitely at least won't be a bust safe pick we allegedly had seen in some time.......and went on to have one of the worst rookie seasons of all time.  They are all lotto picks.  And that is especially true for whatever they will be day 1 in the NFL.  I don't think Tmac is a sure thing year 1.  It's not like we watched him do his thing in the SEC.  He was a PAC12 guy.  I'm sure it will take time
