Andrew Luck the 23rd ranked player in the nfl?

It is worth noting Luck only threw for 323 yards more on 110 more attempts.

That's horrendous.

That's the thing with the media. They don't wanna be wrong and they do anything not be wrong. They hated Cam from the get go, thus they make every attempt at discredit his talent. But he still make top 50 player.

But one thing about the media is, once they turn on you for embarrassing them, you're done. Luck is on that road. Starting next year, once he start pooing his pants, well, he better start Tebowing in the middle of the field.

All I know is, absent all the hypes that Luck got from the media, Cam still makes top 50 players on a losing team. That says a lot. That shows Cam is respected by his peers strictly on his talent. If it were just on meaningless stats alone Stafford would be top 10.

I can tell the players are giving it to Luck this year feeling the media pressure. But they'll eat him alive in years to come. Game recognize game.

Gabbert had a rating of 77.4 but only played in 10 games.

Luck had a rating of 76.5 and played all 16 games.

10 and 16 games aren't that different if the player is consistent. After a certain numbers of games(normally on the double digit) the stats become normalize/predictable.

That's why players have 4 year contracts. Because at the 4th year the player's performance normalize. A point where that player will not be that much better or worse.

And I don't think you're saying Luck's rating was 100 at his 10th game and then went to 76.5 at his 16th. Luck will always be an 80ish rated player.

I swear the Huddle has more RG3 and Andrew Luck threads than the Redskins and Colts boards. Want to create a thread that is guaranteed to go 10 pages long? Just add Andrew Luck or RG3 in the title. Everyone complains about the media's obsession with the two of them yet the obsession with them on here is much worse.

Luck is absolutely a talented QB. I do not agree that he was ranked that much higher than Cam.

At the end of the day, I can honestly say that I prefer having Cam. I believe they are both special. Give me Cam.

Go Panthers!

What makes Luck special? Is it his accuracy, arm strength, or mobility or is it all of which. In the modern day game to be considered special you have to have all. The media keep using that word 'special' when they describe Luck but they never elaborate what that 'special' is. I can't let you get away with it without an explanation. What is special about Luck? And, yes, we've all heard 'all he does is win' stuff before.

Exactly.

Those who prophesy will always move heaven and earth to ensure that their prophecy is fulfilled.

That was deep.

Describes perfectly the dichotomy between Cam and Luck. Can someone give this guy more pie since I can only give him one.

Just cause players support their coach, doesn't mean he's a good coach. Not at all.

Players have supported mediocre and awful coaches for years in all sports (especially ahem "Players Coaches"), and were disappointed when the 'New Guy' came in, who was actually better than the previous who they initially thought they 'liked' so much. It happens.

[surprisingly/Historically] players aren't always the best judges of this for a multiplicity of reasons.

Hopefully, Rivera WILL improve full circle (or at least allow the offense to score at every opportunity, so his decision making is not needed at the end of games)?

This. added to that, all players have their own interest in mind. A lot of players prefer the coach that runs 'my interest friendly offense' over the 'team's interest friendly offense' so they can get 'theirs'. Kind of like some WRs and RBs who prefer pure pocket passers over dual threat QBs. Although the duall threat QB serve the better interest of the team they take snaps away from WRs & RBs. Unless, of course, you're Alfred Morris. That guy was in heaven last year.

As far as the media is concern Luck was 11-0, the rest of the team 0-5. A perfect completion percentage and the rest are labeled as miss-catches instead of in-completions/interception.

This is the first thread about Luck that I have seen in awhile now. I will give you Robert Griffin. There aren't THAT many people who talk about them all the time though. I never mention them unless someone else does.

For the record I have nothing against either of them, but if someone touts them and rags on my QB. Yeah I'm definitely going to say my peace about it. That's what this board is for, endless bickering about trivial nonsense.

Lets just meet in the middle... He is one of the top QBs and delivered. Is he perfect? Nope but to deny his talent is just childish.

To say Luck is good does not implicate Cameron Newton. We live in the world in overvaluaing wins and giving the QB exclusive support/blame.

Jimmy Graham was not in the top 100 to validate the rankings for everyone. He is a top 30 player IMO.

Bucky Brooks had an interesting concern about Luck.

"Now, I must express some concern about Luck's declining play over the final month of the season. While the Colts won four of their final five regular-season games, the rookie standout failed to record a completion percentage greater than 50 in any of those contests. Additionally, he surpassed 200 passing yards just twice in that span. Although numbers only reveal a small part of the equation, the fact that Luck didn't perform at his best down the stretch deserves mention."

Exactly!

Players like/want to keep coaches, owners and front office people (or at least they think they do) for all type of reasons.

Majority of people don't like changes. They like keeping their daily routine. That's understandable.

    • I don't think it was fear of the unknown because he tried to hide the extent of the injuries that made him drop. After the drop, the reports I heard were that teams knew what was wrong with his knee and it was something similar to another athlete from a few years ago (honestly don't remember if it was even a football player).  That it was basically one of those things where he should be fine for a while, there isn't a huge concern of immediate injury risk.   But what he has going on with his knee is something that is degenerative and there's little chance he'll be able to play more than 5 or so years on it before he won't be able to play anymore. So basically it was teams knowing if they draft him, he's probably going to be only a rookie contract player and even if he's great, you might not be able to get use out of him on a second contract.  Which in turn makes the drop make sense, but I'm kinda surprised some contending team didn't take him late in the 1st, hoping he'd put them over the top on a SB run but then not even have to worry about giving him a big contract in 4 years too.
    • Depends if they see the writing on the wall with their roster and contracts and decide to bite the bullet and begin a complete rebuild and roster overhaul.  I have no clue why some franchises (IE us) refuse to do this and keep half assing trying to win 8 games or so.  Do it correctly, take your lumps and build a contender.  We shall see what loomis decides.
    • Each team plays 17 games.  I do not see why they don't just have each team play one international game per year.  Neutral site game, 8 home, 8 away.
