Otto Porter

I've probably seen 500 mocks already this season, most of them have us taking Len or Noel. But about 50 of them have Noel going #1 McLemore going #2 and Len at #3 to the wiz. The weird thing is, if this happens everyone mocks Anthony Bennett to us. Why would we pick Bennett over Porter or even Oladipo? I'm a fan of Bennett's skills but how could we possible pass on Porter?

He only worked out for the top three teams due to a promise from one of them (rumor has it the Wiz like teeray said above).  I would not be against drafting Porter if he slid to 4, but only if Bennett, Len, and Noel are gone... it would be a toss up to me on McLemore or Porter

and just a hair under 200.  mkg would have a better chance to play pf

The kid is about the same age as me, He is obvious about 6 inches taller but we have the same bodytime. IF I can put on 25 pounds of weight/muscle I know he can put on more being professionally trained and having Patrick Ewing by his side.

Otto Porter is a prototypical NBA SF. He will need to add strength/weight just to fulfill that role most effectively. He's also not "a hair under 6'10"- he's not even 6'9" in shoes. He has the potential to be a stretch 4 in certain lineups but he is never going to see extended action as an NBA PF.

Rumor on ProBasketball talk that Wiz are talking to Bulls about a trade of 3rd pick for Deng. Be funny if they traded out and Porter started dropping because he refused to work out for anyone else.

Yea, I saw that rumor too. Still wouldn't be surprise if Porter goes no1 to Cavs.

    • Why would we not be contenders? As long as Bryce plays like he did when he came back, we absolutely can be contenders...that is...   if the defense plays better... which is why adding someone like Ramsey when we have a QB on a rookie deal and can afford it makes sense IMO. No one thought of the Commanders being contenders last year or the Texans the year before and so on and so forth. Top-end QB play, especially for a guy on a rookie deal, changes everything in terms of timelines. Regardless of what this board thinks, I hope the front office is willing to he aggressive in thks window we currently have with a rookie QB deal
    • Would absolutely love to have him. I dont think he would require more than a 5th rounder. The biggest thing with his contract is the amount of guaranteed money. As long as they can work out and scenario where the Panthers aren't on the hook for a lot of that, I think it's a no-brainer. The Panthers can come up with $20M at the drop of a hat with restructuring Moton's contract, so there definitely isn't an issue from a money perspective. Jaycee paired with Ramsey along with Mike Jack would give us one of the best CB groups in the league. The one caveat I see is that safety still remains our biggest current weakness. We need a starting caliber S more than CB, simply put. But adding someone like Ramsey would be amazing as long as the compensation made sense. Ramsey could also play for FS snaps also. I also dont understand this nonsense about being seasons away. We have a QB on a rookie deal who was playing at an elite level to end last season. Within reason, now is absolutely the time to make moves like trading for Ramsey.
    • He'd be a huge upgrade for this year, but we're still not going to be contenders with him and I'd rather keep the cap space to roll into next season to spend on a younger player who can be an impact starter for us for the next 3-5 years while we're hoping to contend.
