I don't think Porter will be there at all. The other thing is, I don't think McLemore will be anything other than a JAG in the NBA, same for Len. It's just my opinion, so I'd glady take Zeller in that position, if Cho and Co. believe in him.

The draft isn't crap, it's just not top heavy with superstar talent.

Four really isn't different from nine based on talent but their is a huge difference in potential from four to nine.

With guys like Zeller and Olynyk, you know exactly what you're getting. Then you have guys like Len, McLemore, Porter, and Noel who are already decent players but they have way more potential then a guy you are going to get at nine.

I didn't say it was crap I just said it was a "crap shoot" much like every draft really. The draft is an imperfect science.

That argument is a poor one (in my opinion) because if the draft is the same from number four to number nine, you can trade down (collect more assets) and get a player similar to the one you were after.

Think of it this way...

The BuzzCats trade down to 9 with their eyes on Zeller and Zeller gets drafted at 7... well if the draft isn't different from four to nine then Kelly Olynyk will be just as good of a fit as Zeller.

That's not my argument though. My argument is that Zeller is their guy. As in they believe Zeller is better for the team than anyone else. In that case, adding two marginal players is not the same as adding Zeller. You can't base your value on a player by what "experts" think their value is.

Just to be clear, the hypothetical is that Zeller is valued higher than the others. Adding a 7 to a team is better than two 5's.

Also, I highly doubt we trade down. It would take something major for us to trade down, and Derek Williams + 9 isn't major. Cho said from the VERY beginning that we needed to suck and get high picks. You don't build a team adding late lottery picks. And (I mean this respectfully) as much as you want to say that there is not a difference in value between 4 and 9, think of it this way...every team has a big board of where they value prospects... there is a difference between picking your guy after 3 other teams and picking from the "scraps" left on the board after 8 other teams have taken their guys.

That's what I was saying, I still think that the number four pick will get you a better player than the number nine pick.

Exactly. This is a weak draft as we all know, but it gets even "weaker" after the Top5-6 prospects. I'm gonna start finding someone to murder if I see the FO trade away the pick tomorrow night.

    • So what about their sign is not compliant or causing the issue according to the rules? Them always having it, or the amount of time they have had it, or their loyalty to the team is not relevant to this situation. To be clear, I know next to nothing about this situation, just trying to clarify.  I have no dog in this fight and am emotionless on this topic. If you are breaking a rule, you do not get special treatment just because you have been here breaking it a long time.
    • The team fell for that late season averageness he displayed last year and got burned. You want to do that again? I don’t.  But I sort of do agree that we are stuck with him as the starter.  I can’t decide whether replacing him gets us into the playoffs so suffering through one last season is the price for freedom in 2026.  Three ways to be free in 2026: He actually plays like a real NFL QB,  The team sends him packing. Be completely out on tne Panthers until changes are made.
    • Short version = these people have had those seats since the beginning and haven't missed a game. They have always had their sign. They had to change the sign - I think in 2015 when Cam ripped that Packers fan's banner down (love him for that, by the way) - to be compliant and haven't had any issues in the last 10 years. The Panthers even used a photo of them and their sign in their album from the Falcons game. In the 3rd quarter last weekend it was decided that the sign needed to come down. Seems weird and unnecessary, especially since it has been there for every game for a decade.   EDIT: they've had it since 2003. Still a long-ass time.... Also "cringe" is a funny word for someone over the age of 18 who lives and overshares on the Huddle. But, ok....
