Horncats interested in Al Jefferson

All I said was he's a natural center. You're the one arguing.

Does that mean the Kevin Love is a center? Bc he sure is listed as a PF/C too. Love is clearly a PF in my eyes. Also, Love is probably a worse defender than Al.

This is like you're telling me Chris Cooley is not a natural Tight End, bc he was listed as a Halfback.

A natural/pure center needs to be able to defend the rim, Jefferson has shown that he isn't the best at that.

Love is listed as a power forward...

Check NBA.com for Love, you'd be surprise.

And don't play dumb with Cooley. You know exactly what I meant. Many other places list Cooley as a HB/TE.

They have Love as a Forward-Center, which is actually semi-reasonable because he did see time at center when Pekovic was hurt. They played Love at center and Derrick Williams at power forward.

Now does this mean that Love is a center, absolutely not... but does it mean he can play center... yes.

The same goes with Jefferson... he can play power forward (and play it well), but he can also play center.

I just wouldn't put him in the same discussion as Dwight Howard as being a true center.

Dwight Howard, Roy Hibbert, Marc Gasol, Andrew Bogut, and Joakim Noah are literally the only true starting centers in the league.

That's what I've been saying bro!

I said he's a natural Center. Never said he was a true Center like Hibbert or Howard. Unless I did, I'm sorry. Which I didn't.

I would be pretty positive if you asked Al and JJ what position they feel more comfortable/natural to them, it'd be Center (AL) and PF (JJ).

Lol my bad.

I guess it's sort of like a Tim Duncan situation. When David Robinson was there, Duncan looked like the typical true PF. After Robinson left and to this day some people could have mistaken Tim as a Center bc he was the biggest man on the floor for them and does all the dirty work. He was pretty much a PF/C through those years. This past year and in the Playoffs, Duncan looked like a true PF playing along side the clumsy Splitter (Center).

We are probably going to have to over pay for any reasonable FA to even consider CHA. It sucks but that is just the way it is right now. If we become more competitive we will become more attractive but the way it sits right now if we really want Jefferson we are going to have to offer him significantly more money than other suitors.

Al Jefferson is a 20/10 guy.  Next years draft is loaded.  Is there really anyone out there next season(C/PF wise) that is better that is a realistic get for us?

One piece at a time.  Sign Jefferson.  Let the season play out.  Goal is to win.  What if we lose a ton and still get shafted as usual?

Sign Jefferson.

I haven't kept up with who's a free agent and not next season but I think Monroe and cousins are free agents next year. I'd much rather have either one of them and prolly give em a max deal as well. Which would be way cheaper to give them one than Jefferson. But again that's next year. I'm impatient lol

They're both RFA's...

I would think that Detroit would match (and can afford) any offer to Monroe, but I'm not sure the Kings would match a big offer to Cousins.

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
