Just when I thought Jamie Dukes couldn't be any dumber

They were discussing what player they would take to start a franchise with on a roundtable on NFLN tonight and Sapp says Mario Williams, Faulk says Merriman. Later Papa says Brady and LaCanfora says Aaron Rogers. Duke says...and he was 100% serious...MICHAEL VICK. MICHAEL VICK... ARE YOU KIDDING ME????? YOU WOULD START AN NFL FRANCHISE WITH A GUY WHO WAS A CRAPTASTIC QB BEFORE HE WENT TO JAIL, WAS ALWAYS A CHARACTER PROBLEM OF ONE TYPE OR ANOTHER AND HASN'T BEEN ON A FIELD IN TWO YEARS????

I knew from the minute I ever heard him open his mouth 4 or so years ago that he was a ridiculous Ronnie Mexico lover, but good gravy.

I was cooking dinner when he said that and I was like WTF?

I always knew he was a snuggler, but thought he had gotten away from publicly announcing it on NFLN ever since herpie boy went to jail. Guess the idiot still needs a cell phone photo of herpies at a dog fight to believe he is guilty. Why is he still on TV? I understand his radio show. All the other snugglers in Atlanta need Something to listen to. But TV? He's a complete moron.

Question... did he give his logic/reasoning in why he would pick Vick?

He talked about how ATL's run game was dominant because of Vick and how you have to devote defenders to stopping him. There might be more (hope it wasn't his passing ability!!)but I was so stunned that's all I remember. Sapp and even Faulk who I find mostly moronic were incredulous at this pick.

Come on, Jamie Dukes is a visionary. He is wise enough to realize some franchise have to be around for the rest of the NFL to kick around. He is such a martyr, he would be willing to fill that role at the same time giving those who prefer the gangsta image a chance to buy the jersey of a QB they can get behind.

It's morons like this that makes me thankful that I have TWC.

I just watched the clip, and Warren Sapp was just in utter disbelief. I mean just utter shock that Dukes would even bring up Vick as being "the guy" in the franchise. After seeing that I just can't imagine any scenario in which ANYONE could take Dukes seriously again. Ever.

    • Bryce and Dave will determine how many games this team wins next year. It’s not on the WRs. The RBs. LBs. This is about 2 things: 1. Can Bryce continue to come up big in the few key downs that decide most games?  2. Can Canales evolve his play calling to counter punch like the big boys do. Half time adjustments.  teams that score 30+ points on the regular win more games than not. That’s on Bryce and Dave. The offense is top 10 at every position group, save for TE and QB. A baller TE is gravy but not crucial when the receivers are dudes.  The defense is the defense. It’ll be better this season, hopefully by a large margin, but Dave/Bryce is really where it’s at.
    • Normally I'd wholeheartedly agree with this. But I feel like teams figured out this offense after the Raiders game. Bryce was so inept the first 2 games that we couldn't really even run the offense. Dalton's first game showed what we had. But after that game, coverages got a lot tighter and windows were smaller. When Bryce came back in, his ability to extend plays made a big difference. It's really difficult to stop a QB that can beat/escape 1on1 tacklers. It puts a lot of pressure on the defense when you blitz. And he was completing throws in tight coverage with anticipation. Point being Bryce wasn't throwing to wide open receivers that were schemed open by the offense. Occasionally yes. But not often.
    • With the additions we've made to our roster combined with the state of the division and the conference as a whole there is no excuse for this team not to make a legitimate push for 8-9 wins. Anything less is honestly inexcusable. There will be no more free passes for being a doormat in this iteration of the league where even mediocre teams are competing for playoff spots.
