Cash Money Huddle League 2013

I would like to make a suggestion for next year if it's possible. Is there a way to prevent teams that are not in the playoffs from picking people up each week? I thought this was common knowledge but I guess not.

I sure would have liked to have picked up a certain QB last night off waivers for this "Superbowl" matchup since they are playing the worst defense in the league yet he was taken by someone who didn't even make it into the playoffs to begin with. Sometimes you need to just step aside and realize that's it's over, your out, irrelevent, finished, terminado, fertig, faerding, , Päättynyt, finisat, Законченный, kumaliza, etc....

Thank you for your time,

Johnny Rockets

but seriously, I see what you mean.  But hard to fault someone fighting to the end and enjoying even a meaningless matchup.  This is a scenario that definitely needs to be addressed at least prior to playoffs but too late to fix now (imo)  will add it next year though.

No problem, I was just merely making a suggestion while venting a bit. I probably would have just rollled with Foles who got me here in the first place but was considering using Cousins.

One other thing that could happen would be this type of scenario. What if Swans #1 RB went out and he was ahead of me in waivers. I could contact Biscuit (who has nothing to play for) and ask him to pick up the back up RB to prevent Swan from getting him. We all know Biscuit is as shady as they come so he would do it in a heartbeat. : )

Maybe that's not even "illegal" but it would be a sh*tty thing to do and when you have immoral houligans like me in this league, you can never be too safe. Hey, I think I just came up with my team name next year.....Immoral Houligans has a nice ring to it.

Anyway, on to beating Swans...thanks again for running it Pryd and feel fee to take 10% out of any money I win as a league commisioner bibe.....errrrr I mean tip.

I would definitely do this... but only if paid in time with a midget stripper.

(Something I know JR is capable of doing)

A-Ok with paypal. I never sent the cash, so dock $20 for whatever's coming my way. ( i feel like an asshole about that, but i was going to send the money after the season).

anywho, JR, good luck brother. this sunday will be gr8, win or lose. saints v. panthers, and a whole day of football.

Btw, i did notice the waivers thing. kinda odd to me, but it can be changed for next season. to everyone else, loved playing with y'all (first time ive played fantasy without ever playing a team with an unset lineup). great season, love y'all mucho, and keep pounding.

congrats to ladypanther...jamal charles single handedly ended my season

Thanks....Charles has been good for me this year.  Romo was very good until after the Denver game (beat Peyton that game) ...then he went to crap.

I've got to get ready to pay up and want to make sure both guys in Championship game are ok with paypal as a means to dispense the kitty?  (congratulations btw assholes)   :)

I went back to double check and it is 70/30 split.

I know I got two checks and a bunch of deposits but never went through the checklist for the last one or two I was waiting on.  So if you are one of the procrastinators let me know.

PP...I have sent you several PM's asking how to send my $20 and have never received and answer.....let me know!!!!!!!

swan, send me your email so I can send paypal or message me where I can send check.  I sent pp to JR (hurts sending money to eagle fan but had to do it!)

I'm not very good at accounting but I think you weren't the only one to not pay in advance.  30% of $280 is $84 so I owe you $64.

I did get 3 payments not via paypal but it is a pain to go back and match incoming PP to players so if anyone else missed please let me know!

    • Congratulations do they know who the father is?
    • In my opinion Fitterer was probably right about not paying McCaffrey. Now not wanting to "pay RBs" in my opinion isn't something you want to set in stone, to me it all comes down to the individual.
    • Maybe I'm just not understanding, but everywhere that I have read says that signing bonuses go against the cap prorated by as much as five years. The following example uses Andrew Luck's rookie contract as an example. "Take Andrew Luck, the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft. Luck signed a four-year contract with the Colts worth $22.1 million and included a $14.5 million signing bonus. Rather than a $14.5 million cap hit in 2012, the Colts spread out his signing bonus over the life of his contract. The hit against the cap would be $3.625 million per year over four years instead of a direct cap hit of $14.5 million directly in 2012. This gave the Colts more leverage and cap flexibility in signing other players." https://www.the33rdteam.com/nfl-signing-bonuses-explained/ I don't know why some of you think that signing bonuses aren't counted against the cap over the length of the contract, but whatever.   "The bonus with a signing is usually the most garish aspect of a rookie contract. Bonus is the immediate cash players receive when they ink a deal. It factors into the cap, but only for the whole contract duration, in terms of salary cap calculations. In the case of Bryce Young’s $24.6 million signing bonus, that’s prorated to approximately $6.15 million per season over a four-year deal. This format allows teams to handle the cap and provides rookies with some short-term fiscal stability, which is important given the high injury risk in this league." https://collegefootballnetwork.com/how-rookie-contracts-work-in-the-nfl/ I understand how signing bonuses can be a useful tool in order to manage the cap, and as one of the article suggests, signing bonuses may become important if you have a tight cap, but the bill is always going to come due. I'm not necessarily referring to you Tuka, but it seems to me that others simply don't want to understand that fact which is why they're reacting to what I'm saying negatively. How odd. In any event, I have a better general understanding of why signing bonuses are used now, and it's generally to fit salaries under the cap. Surely players, whether they be rookies or not, love a signing bonus because they get a good portion of their money up front. This in turn gives them more security and probably amounts to tax benefits as well. I also understand why teams would not want to use signing bonuses, particularly for players or draftees who have a higher probability of being gone before a contract even ends.
