Does anyone else think Robertson has been sitting around waiting for us to sign him?

It's a perfect scenario, but what if Peppers is unwilling to sign right now. He's set to make 1 million dollars a game. Why should he renegotiate a contract that will lower that per game amount? I'd wait until years end, but then again it is Peppers/Carey...
well we got until the 15th to find out.

i thnk there are two things driving this new discussion about robertson: 1) he has been on the market for how long and still without a job? that drives the price tag down. 2) peppers is likely on the verge of a long term contract which may loosen up the coinage. robertson price going down a little and our cap room loosening up just a little may make it work.

Everyone would like that to happen, but really are you going to take speculation by the Observer that far? They said he might want to sign a long term contract, but honestly don't read too much into that until we hear from Peppers himself.

and yeah he's been on the market for a long time, and that very well could be from him not wanting a low contract figure.

Also, I do not know the exact figure, but after signing all of our rookies, and possibly some of the FA pick ups, I doubt we have enough to sign Robertson. Unless he wants to play for a low figure or the minimum, which I doubt he does.

I mean damn, we didn't even keep Gary Gibson(or Jason Kyle, Darwin Walker, etc.) who was doing pretty damn well and would have played for the minimum, can't imagine Hurney signing Robertson.

    • Kalkbrenner and Sion James received regular contracts and not two ways, so the Hornets have some work to do to cut the roster size down.
    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
