Rivera has never been a laid back coach until this year.. I guess we have different opinions of laid back... Some probably want to see Rivera rip into players on the sidelines like Bill Parcels when I'm under the impression that yelling at a grown man is not productive whatsoever. In my opinion, Rivera has made great strides this offseason and it started with him admitting his previous mistakes.

Also while I'm not defending all of Rivera's decisions, that 13-19 record is not totally on him. At the end of the day, the players make the plays...

No one is happy with being average but a lot of people are being realistic...

We have an awful offensive line, a make shift secondary, a bunch of players coming off injuries, and an a relatively unknown wide receiver group other than Smith and LaFell.

How so? The head coach is THE guy, and his teams win loss total is a direct reflection of his job performance. Players don't choose the plays, and they don't waste timeouts in moronic fashion, or punt on 4th and 1 either.

If a grown man who is paid millions or multiple millions can't take some yelling, they don't belong on the roster. Honestly though yelling isn't even a necessity, it's more of a cliche if anything. What do I want? Intensity.

Agreed...Rivera is gaining confidence with this being only his SECOND!!! Real offseason where he can assess progress and regression.

A first season with a front office that made a decent amount of quality moves...not like a Hurney-Nakamura signing and popping bubbley soon after satisfied with a terrible offseason with no direction.

The team had a top 10 defense last season with an uneven secondary and below avg run defense.

i really think Rivera can be special when constructing defensive schemes with McD...we just need that special teams to be somewhat...special.

The head coaches primary job is to game plan. DeAngelo Williams said something recently that really convinced me that Chudzinski was the problem. Williams said that the team game planned to run the ball during the week but when they got to the games they completely ignored the game plan. It seems like Chud had his own idea on game day and tended to ignore the game plan that Rivera had set up. I think Shula and Rivera will be a much better match.

Rivera has intensity he just shows it in a different way, you can look at him and see that he wants to succeed. If you're looking for a coach that gets in players faces or try's to fire up his team by jumping around, you might want to switch teams.

 

Rivera will always be a mellow guy but you can tell by looking at him on game day that he has a passion to succeed.

Also let's be real, if you're smart you knew Rivera was going to make mistakes in his first two years. Did you really expect that a head coach with no experience was going to come in a take us to the Super Bowl in two years?

While we're on the topic of Chud shitting the bed, yes he was a problem. Who's his boss? You guessed it. Ron Rivera. It shouldn't have taken Ron half the season and Hurney getting fired to man up and fix the mess Chud created.

At the end of the day, there is only so much a coach can do. Rivera can continually tell Chud to run the ball or to not use the read option so much; but at the end of the day Chud makes the calls and it's not like he is going to get fired if he doesn't listen or agree with Ron. Coordinators and position coaches are never fired in-season.

What are you going to do, fire him? Position coaches and coordinators are never fired in-season. At the end of the day, Rivera can only hope that Chud respects him enough to go with his game plan.

I'm not blaming it all on Chud because there were some flawed game plans by Rivera, but DeAngelo Williams' comments kind of made me think that there might have been some disagreements between Rivera and Chud.

With all that I've said, if the team stays relatively healthy then it's playoffs or bust for Rivera.

Yes the offensive line and secondary is a point of concern but the overall roster is good enough to get us into the playoffs as a wildcard team with good coaching.
