One of the specific things they went for when they were building the staff was guys who were strong teachers

 

Agree, but most of the coaches were on the staff last year, too.

 

The difference this year? Principal Gettleman is overseeing the teachers and students now. With the contract renegotiations and releasing of Thomas Keiser and Geoff Hangartner, the students seem to be paying more attention to what the teachers are saying.

Skip seems to be helping Rivera a lot, those two were constantly talking on the sideline.

Other than Mike Shula, Skipper is the only guy on staff who's been a head coach. It was in the XFL though, and only for one year. The next year, he joined the Panthers staff.

Skipper is also the only experienced coach to have an extensive background with the late Sam Mills. He coached on the tstaff of the USFL's Philadelphia Stars the whole time Mills was there, then followed Mills to New Orleans till 1995 when Mills left for Carolina.
