By week 3 against the Giants...

I buy that after first cuts. The vast majority will be scrubs.

Most "wow, they cut him" transactions don't happen till final cuts, but may not happen at all.

Again, won't surprise me if the sequence of events is 1) stand pat through week one 2) look horrible in week one 3) sign someone before week two.

That might suck, but better late than never.

I wonder how many big names are going to be cut this year.  With all the blood letting during the offseason most of the big names were already cut and were either picked up by other folks or are still out there.  I don't know if there are going to be that many guys available or that there won't be competition for them given all the offensive line injuries we have already seen across the league.  Don't see gettleman getting into a price war to get a player.

Wharton should be a part of the line at some point before the season starts...

If price was an issue I don't know that his price will go down.  Seems to me as injuries mount his asking price could go up.  Unless gettleman ponies up some cash I don't know he will be here.

Kugbila going on PUP seems like a real possibility.

Unfortunately, so does his going on IR :(

The fact that Gettleman looked at our oline and felt that he had enough talent in place that he could draft a DII project is a bit concerning to me. The whole team looked sluggish and out of it though, so I'm not sure if I'm going to put too much stock in this game. Next week is the one to make judgments with.

I hate to tell you but anyone we pick up at this stage based on final cuts is not going to be a starter.  He might be a backup but won't be better than who we have.  No, the group you see now is who is going to start this year.

ahem Jeremy Bridges disagrees.   They are usually some  stop gap types that are cut that are perfectly serviceable  and can get you to where you need to be.    If you need a history on the JB thing  Bridges was cut by the Cardinals and we picked him up and plugged him and in and boom solid starter for a year.  I wanna say this was 2008-2010 time table

There's always trades.

That said though, I have a feeling the OL may not get fixed till next season :(

I saw him pull after the snap and completely whiff on his guy because he skipped him like there was a better block on the 2nd level while DWill (IIRC) gets stuffed for no gain. Could have been a nice 4-5 yarder.

although I'm not saying he's just as bad as Williams. I do agree he still has a lot of improvement ahead of him.

I went back and re-watched the game and saw this exact play.

I think intially picked up the wrong guy, but still u don't just let a guy run free pass u like that. I don't care if u were suppose to pick him up or not.

I'm trying to withhold judgment on the Kugbila pick till I've actually seen him play.

The fact that it's gonna take a while to see that is a big concern, though.

Wharton definitely has the leverage as teams get desperate.

No I don't need a history lesson on Bridges but you might.  We brought him in last year as a stop gap for our O-line and he lasted 3 games with no starts before we cut him.  He last played for us in 2008 and was cut due to legal charges. He was a starter for us in 2007.

He is a free agent this year as well.

Plus you miss the point that in many years there are a lot of veterans who aren't cut until final cuts because the cap wasn't so tight.  This year many of those vets who wouldn't be cut until final cuts in previous years were cut in the offseason to get under the cap.  There won't as many vets out there getting cut this year.

Am I the only one who thinks Silatolu is neck and neck with Bell as the o-line liability? Week 1 he marked bad on 6 of 13 snaps. When he pulls he doesn't find his block very well, and idk.. I just see less problems on Garry than Amini so far. I haven't got the film yet to look over yesterday's game so really basing most on last week.. but I just don't think Silatolu has turned the corner yet.
