Yet everyone you listed finished behind Tiger....and Tiger had no chance.

 

Your hate for a professional golfer is hilarious.

 

Yep, I get a huge laugh every time he doesn't win and we have to listen to the media talk about "almost" until the next tournament....

 

... and, btw, Tiger said in his post-round interview that his back didn't start having problems until the 12th hole today...

I thought Tiger was out of it too, but he played well today and missed a playoff by about and then inch.

I don't hate tiger, he's a great golfer. Although he's a poor example on the course sometimes the problem I have, like AnybodyHome, is the media slobbering over him.

He's right, they won't talk much about Scott winning tomorrow very much, they'll talk about Tiger almost winning more... Its dumb.

Halfway through the 3rd round, Rickie Fowler, Kuchar and Webb Simpson are all tied on top at -10.

 

But ESPN keeps telling us Tiger is "lurking"....  just one small problem. He's 4 holes ahead of the leaders, is +1 for the day and is in 17th place...

 

He'll probably be 7-8 shots behind by the end of Round 3, but if you listen to the talking heads, he's "in the hunt" or "prowling just behind the leaders" or some such other idiot analogy or pure fabrication just to get viewers.

 

 

Too funny.

 

Can this place ever have a golf thread that isn't littered with people pissing and moaning about Tiger Woods?

 

 

Me thinks not.

 

Quite an effort to do what Tiger did today with a back in spasm. 

 

Tiger's win rate dropped to like 40% I think and he only has 3 more PGA wins and $3,000,000 in prize money than his nearest competitor.

Clearly he sucks.

 

But seriously, ESPN, Golf Channel, CBS, whoever is only going for ratings. Blame the casual Golf Fan, Tiger is one of the few names they know. Networks want their attention so they can show them commercials, simple as that.

I don't know where you get the idea it's just the media orchestrating all this coverage.

 

I'm in the car A LOT, and I listen to PGA Tour radio on XM A LOT.

 

Most of the shows on this station are call in shows.  The funny thing is even when the hosts never even mention Tiger the topics brought up by the callers always leads to Tiger.

 

I remember a couple months ago there was a call in by one of the slathering Tiger haters to the morning show where he complained about the coverage Tiger gets and he's tired of the media talking about Tiger and only Tiger.

 

The host succinctly pointed out that he never mentioned the name Tiger that morning, that he introduced at least 10 subjects that were possible fodder for that day and not one of them included Tiger.

 

He went on to say that every call mentioning Tiger he consciously tried to change the topic away from Tiger.

 

BUT, Tiger was the overwhelming topic of converstion that day.  And, it wasn't even a day when there was breaking Tiger news, he hadn't even played the week previous.

 

Look, golf would have nowhere near the popularity it currently has if not for Tiger.  As a matter of fact before Tiger came on the scene I would bet professional golf was on the way out.  It had reached it's popularity height years before and was rapidly on the way down to obscurity.

 

I don't really have trouble understand peoples motives for not being too fond of Tiger, I do have trouble understanding people that go out of their way to have a need to show their distaste for him.

 

You started a thread to talk about Tiger and your main complaint is that too many people talk about Tiger

 

Is something wrong with that picture.  Reminds me of the kid that killed his parents then threw himself on the mercy of the court because he's an orphan.
