SI Article Talks Up Cam and His Matchup with Seahawks

What confused me was the author talking about us getting away from the spread, yet all the comments for Hawks players was about defending the option/spread.

Which tells me the Seahawks are focusing on the wrong thing and there may be something to this move to a more traditional gameplan.

Not only was the read option something that was overused last season, I seen personally at the end of the year that it didn't fit our personnel.  You don't build a team of road graders, and then make them have to zone block.  That is why we were murdered especially during the Giants and Cowboys game.  Their athletic d-lines just out ran our blockers to the point of the attack.  Later in the season though, we went smash mouth and started to turn things around.

    • This guy pre-draft was saying he could take or leave football, and he seems to have been playing with that mentality ever since lol.
    • Agreed, another safety would be nice. Bud Clark, TCU, is one I would like to see us take a flyer on later in the draft, if he stays healthy and we don't take someone earlier. I just really hope we draft a solid C this year. Tired of seeing us cycle through average to below average players in that area.
    • Bryce doesn't like throwing into the middle of the field unless the play broke down or it's set up to give him a passing lane.  So because of this issue, most of the passing offense has to be outside the numbers towards the boundary. So you see him throw a lot of dump offs, swing routes, short side out routes, comebacks or deep balls outside the numbers using the boundary as protection of an interception.    Pretty easy for a NFL defense to see this and scheme against it.  All you have to do is run a shell cover 2 deep dime, LB plays a hook underneath, take the flat away with a blitz/flat zone option for the two inside DB's, outside two DB's play hook zone underneath and carry anything deep.    Pretty much what NO ran to take away Rico while also limiting What Bryce can do as well.
