Watching other games today

I'll say this...

If you want to become a smarter football fan. watching games in which you have no rooting interest is absolutely one of the best things you can do for yourself.

What you'll see:

Good teams play bad games. Bad teams sometimes pull out wins.

Good players make bad plays. Bad players sometimes make highlight reels that make them look better than they are.

Good coaches make bad decisions, and sometimes it costs them games. And sometimes those losses are to bad coaches.

Bottom Line: Our team's problems aren't so unique as people often think. No team is perfect. They all have issues. Every year 20 of them fail to make the playoffs and 31 of them fail to win the Super Bowl.

And yes, sometimes action needs to be taken, but the whole ridiculous "bench/cut/fire anybody/everybody because we lost this game but it isn't just one game they never do anything right we completely suck and every other team in the league is better than us" is pretty ridiculous.

Great post.

I don't get how teams not known for passing, like San Fran today, Miami, and others I watched on league pass, can make running quick slats for 7-10 yards look so easy and common, whereas for Carolina it is a rarity and damn near impossible. Either Cam really cannot throw the intermediate pass and we threw it out of the playbook, or Rivera/Shula/Gettleman are stuck in the 1800's, doesn't watch other NFL games and see how to take a QB like Colin Kaepernick and put up 34 points with a similar supporting cast

How do you not even take a shot down field with Ginn or Edwards, at least once. Wasn't Cam one of the best deep ball throwers his first two seasons?

This season has 7-9 written all over it. In this NFL you have to be able to put points in the board, first and foremost. The Saints may have a much, much shittier D than our awesome front 7, but they have a much better chance at the playoffs because they can score when they need to. Just another depressing season

Cam missed Ginn on a deep ball. He was breaking open and Cam threw it underneath. Last season we had too many play calls that were forcing Cam to throw deep down field. I think he's being eased into this season and will get better when he's given more opportunities with this mindset of complete a pass to complete a pass. Eventually he will recognize defense numbers and location on the field and won't have to think so much about that third and 4th read.
