Aww don't be negative Ned.

It's only the first game.

it's just more of the same.

we lose and "awww...cmon...losing isn't so bad"

until this team proves differently, its a losing team. but hey....it's all good, right? winning is overrated.

If we're 0-3 heading into the bye I'll start panicking.

Right now I have the usual post-game depression tempered with cautious optimism in anticipation of next week's game.

we lost a game in which the winning team was held to 12 points and rhe other team was playing with a weakened defense? sorry, i don't see much room for optimism. it's not panic. it's seeing this team for what it really is.  a losing one. it's seeing the head coach for what he is...content with losing.

i don't feel confident about any game on this schedule or this season at all. if this was  the first time we lost an opener or  hadn't gone 4 years in a row with a losing record i might have some modicum of confidence in this team, but as it is today is just what i expect from the rivera/shula panthers.

Well, as of right now all but four teams have played their first game.  Only the lowly Jaguars scored fewer points (2) than the Panthers today (7).

I get that Seattle's defense is all-world, but as has been pointed out, they were down a few big names today.  If our offense has real potency that we've seen before, it was not there today.  The fumble, the drops, the multiple short-yardage situations where the RB's went nowhere; our offense did not resemble anything remotely respectable.

Not passing judgement as an end-all, be-all, but regardless of who the opponent is, that performance today wouldn't beat many NFL teams.  We can't keep killing our own drives and exhausting our defense with lopsided time of possession.  Can't wait for improvement next week.

we're still a losing team. there's nothing else to be taken from it than that. we lose and then we downplay it.

i miss being even mediocre.

Lol, Rayzor, you KNOW this is how I feel.

But, as sad as it sounds, I'm trying to have something to hope for next week, because if we lose that game, I feel we're already prepsring for next season.

Again, all reasons I think he should have been canned halfway through last season (at the latest). The writing was on the wall in year one, but I understood giving him the benefit of the doubt as it was his first year... but, I had zero confidence in him.

This thread isn't about Rivera because I believe if we win, it is in spite of him. I'm hoping the players rally and do just that.

When a team scores 7 points there is no "slight possibility that we didn't play as bad as it actually appeared"

Welp, there you have it. I think you just annihilated that one tiny, measly, miniscule hope for going forward that I had.

I was trying to find a bright spot man, and looking at how Cam played last season against them, I was thinking the poor showing wasn't indicative of a horrible, conservative, Jeff Davidson-like yesr from Shula in playcalling.

In all honesty, especially if you look at my posts immediately after the game, I'm completely listless, discouraged, and depressed by this showing. I wasn't optimistic heading into the season with Rivera returning, but again, hoping our players would win in spite of him.

What sucks, is that in some way, I view time through football seasons and I feel like it's yet another wasted and unsuccessful year, and we all grow another year older waiting for our stupid team to get it together.

I'm not going to assume anything about the season since it's the first game, I just hate moral victories. I'm a fan, all I care about is wins. All this talk about who played well is for the coaches to look at, means very little to me when it comes with a L.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
