Is the New Cam holding the old Cam hostage?

So Cam Newton has struggled all game, there is no denying that.  Interesting to note however, he has thus far performed better than Brady through this much of the game. Now, the Bills Defense has definitely improved this year and I don't think anyone will take them for granted anymore. Cam has been constantly pressured all day and the O-line is nothing to speak of.  But if we are to be honest, we would expect him to make more of the throws he seems to be missing.

This new Cam is very mature off the field. Does great in interviews, always says the right thing. He hasn't celebrated anything all game not even his first down that he ran for.  He has become depiction of the stoic leader. No emotion. Never too high, never too low. Deflecting credit and taking blame. Making a conscious effort to get his guys involved.

This new Cam has passed the media test, and I am sure his fans are happy. But this new Cam is missing something.  Something is just not right. Not there. Not all the way. The QB that has performed better than any other in the history of the league through his first two seasons has been made to look like a rookie in his 3rd season. We, the huddlers, the homers, the zealots and even the Cam nut-huggers have blamed everything from play-calling to the H-Coach to the O-Coordinator to the other teams defense. All these are in play but is there more?

The Zone. Anyone who has any experience with sports psychology has heard of it. That mental sweet spot where a person goes and they don't think they just do. Some call it instinct. Some call it Mojo. But whatever you call it, I assure you it is real. Has Cam lost his Swag? That confidence that got him so much success in life. All the championships, the Heisman. That would build to bursting everytime he stepped on the field, so much so that it would leap from his chest. It must be painful, so much so that he must rip his chest open to let some out!

But it doesn't seem to be bothering him today. The Swag is not building like it usually does. There is no chest bursting explosion of excellence and his game has suffered. I ask you huddlers, which do we want more? Can we deal with the Swag? The drive? The Confidence? Dare I say it, The show boating? Was it really that bad? Do we really give a poo if he does interviews well, lol?

Edit. He did give One 1st down celebration around 4:30  in the fourth. Maybe all is not lost.

    • Aggressive runner, hits the hole fast, and runs angry.  Just a few yards shy of the single game record for the team.  Absolutely phenomenal performance.  If the gameplan hadn't become weirdly pass heavy for the 3rd and first half of the 4th quarters he might have been flirting with 300.
    • I felt that way before the season started, but I'm sorry, he's already proven he isn't that guy, I don't need to learn anything more about him. He threw the ball 30 times today and could only throw for 198 yards, which was his 2nd best yardage game this year, he's just not the guy. Which means this season has already moved onto the 2nd most important thing going into this season after evaluating Bryce, and that's developing our best young players. You don't do that by only throwing 8 of your 30 passes to your best player who is still only a rookie.  Pepper him with targets and help develop him so he's ready to take a huge leap next year when we get a real HC and QB to get him the ball.
    • Every win comes from a non-sustainable source.  As CRA mentioned, Penix absolutely imploding against ATL, and then today, defense finally clicked and looked the best they’ve looked in a long time (and still have up 24 points lol) and Rico ran for 200+ yards.  We’re not going to get that every week, especially against good teams, which neither Miami or ATL are.  Both MIA and ATL are bad teams and Bryce still couldn’t get it together.  The defense (and team) had to overcome 14 points because of his turnovers again.  That was not even an average QB performance.  We are winning in spite of him.
