Overbearing Jerry's

Delhommey

He did let someone else make all the decisions.  Unfortunately, the guy he let do that was a sports writer.

There's an actual football guy in charge now, and I think we'll see the difference within the next few years.

(and probably after a coaching change)

I don't believe that at all but you may be right...I hope you are right.

We'll see...I hope he does let DG do his thing.

So you think it was DG's call to keep Rivera?

Gettleman wasn't on staff yet when that decision was made, and by his own statements he had no desire to come in and clean house from the get go.  You saw no indication that Jerry interfered in the draft or the free agency process.

Add in that Jerry had been known to like Jon Beason as a player, but you didn't see him step in and stop the choice to trade him away.

I'd say if Gettleman can trade a guy like Jon Beason, he's got pretty free reign.

You said he let someone else make the decisions but JR had already picked the HC regardless of the GM...that....is stupid.

DG I'm sure was being political about it because if he truly wanted to keep Rivera(i highly doubt it) then that would be a knock against him for sure.

    • Damn Logan Jones had a good day too. Was high on him coming in as he anchored that top Iowa line and is a fire plug inside. He's gonna be 25 to start the season so maybe he slips into the 4th but I doubt it, even if C isn't a premium position. His play on the field was top notch and the combine boosted it again. Arm length is about the only knock. But guy is plug and play at C.   This is a loaded class at C. Need to grab one.
    • Bryce will be permanently replaced by a draft pick. There's not another Sam Darnold out there to save us. Tepper is going to see this throw because he dumped Mayfield and Darnold too soon. He's going to give it 1 more year before he will sign off on dumping another 1st round pick qb. Thats the cold hard truth of it. It doesn't mean we can't get younger and much better at the backup position.
    • Maybe I should have used a different word and saved that for me. I want someone that has something impressive about them.  Someone that has potential to supplant a guy who is producing 25th best type of numbers. 22nd, 27th all that bottom third neighborhood.  I don’t know where that will come from it just can’t be from even a 4th round pick this year IMO. Unless FA is crazy productive.    I’ll give Bryce a better than bottom rating for his playoff game. Well above low twenties. But at least half of his games were bottom third level. Probably 2/3 to 3/4 of them were.
