Cam or Eli ?

Bear with me because im on my phone. People around here know im a big Cam supporter and im frustrated with the playcalling, the coaching staff, the inability to build the oline somewhat around him and his lack of weapons (i didnt see smitty losing this much step in the offseason). But after reading from credible posters who are questioning Cam, I sat back and really thought about what the best interest of this organization is. I believe you have said you want to move on from him. Not 100% sure.

I tried to look at the present and the future and what our best options are. I looked at Cam's weaknesses and strenghths, how this franchise helped or negated those strenghts and weaknesses and whether I though Cam had the work ethic, the mental capacity and the leadership to lead this team to the super bowl.

Cam does have problems reading defenses. But its not that he cant read defenses period. If you look at the past 10 games before the Cardinals he was 22 td and 4 picks. That is impossible to do if you cant read defenses. A lot of what we have here is just opinion through observation. We are not in the film room, at the practices or on the sidelines. From what ive seen he does have problems with some defensive looks and knowing to audible out of certain plays. That can be taught. Whether you think he is willing or able to learn you and I will never know. Ive seen progress, then disaster, then more progress, then disaster.

When you have a kid that is growing and learning having O-line troubles makes things ten times worse looking then they are. Even on some of those blitz in the Cards game you saww lineman and rbs miss blocks.

if this coaching staff and GM know Cams flaws what have they done to help assist him? Nothing. DG took a major hit in my opinion of him because of it. If we wanna build around Cam we need a solid o-line and big WRs because of Cam's innacuracies. And most importantly we need an offensive coach who can hide his weaknesses and bring out all his positives (speed, elusiveness and big play ability because of his arm strenghth). We can either start building around Cam or look elsewhere. Do the positives outweight the weaknesses? Does starting from scratch and finding a new qb help us in the long run instead of building weapons that play to his strenghths? Which is a more calculated risk?

I think we know what we have in Cam, ive seen flashes of brilliance and flashes of ineptitude. We need a coaching staff that can get that jekyll and hyde straightened out. Because to me the odds we make the super bowl the quickest and easiest path is to believe in Cam and build on his strenghths and try to minimize or hide his weaknesses. It is a whole organizational and team effort. Cam can be superman if this organization believes and wants him to be.

This is a great post with a lot of thought put into it but I must say, if you did this for any QB they would be successful; look at Jake Delhomme here!  If you give any QB in this league top notch talent at all positions and the number 1 coaching staff then they will succeed.  At some point the players themselves have to take responsibility and as I have mentioned in other threads, Cam has worked out with other trainers, not just this coaching staff and he still has the same issues so I'm not sold that this coaching staff is entirely to blame although they get all the hate here.  Are they great, no, but this crap you hear now is the same crap you heard about John Fox and the same crap you will hear about the next coaching staff.  Just the way of the huddle.

I don't know if looking elsewhere or not is the answer to us winning, I don't know what is, we haven't won since John Fox and Jake where here so its been a while.  In my mind we have and still have some top notch offensive and defensive talent so why isn't that equating to wins?  I don't know.  Everyone points to the Coach but we weren't winning at the end of the John Fox era either, the one coach that did win for us.

Drops factor into that percentage don't forget that.

I know it does but so does under throwing WRs when they are open.

If Cam wasn't doing that all the time we could point to drops....but we can't because for every drop a WR does...Cam over or under throws a man who is open.

yea, everyone wants to talk about drops but for every drop there is a ball sailing 5 feet over a guys reach when he's wide open.

i guess that would be on the oline right?

or was it a bad play call to begin with by the coaches.

cam snugglers are full of excuses for the simple reason that they just plain have to be
