If Shula's play calls are so moronic, why don't we just audible?

"Moments". Are you kidding me? Dude has "audibled" his way to give us a 3-1 record right now. Even surely you can see this. Now that is it clear, you are only going to talk about his 2nd half. Are you going to credit him for all the others?

Wow...I didn't know we were 3-1, I though we were 1-3.

There obviously was no audible when Cam took that safety.

* There was an obvious blitz coming.

* Cam took the snap from under center

* Cam took a 5-step drop

* There were no hot routes, no quick slant and nobody was looking for the ball.

* Cam had less than 3 seconds from the snap before he went down

That play didn't need an audible to a quick slant. What it needed was for Kalil or Wharton to pick up the block. Jesus, just block the guy in front of you, its not rocket science. Wharton slides to the left and does nothing, Kalil reacts too late trying to cover for Wharton's error presumably. Kalil did cop to some miscommunication.

That was your interpretation of that post? LOL. I think I get an idea of what I am dealing with.

You must be living in a parallel universe or something.

The Panthers are # 7 in rushing...and very little of that has been Cam Newton.

The Panthers are # 30 in passing...and Newton has to shoulder the blame for much of this.

Either the man is ready to step up to the plate and play like a 3rd year pro...or he is not.

But back to the original question: If Shula's calls are so moronic, why doesn't Cam just audible out of them???

He sure had an ample opportunity to recognize the blitz Sunday and check off to a quick developing pass play or run a draw...

Didn't happen. I can understand why the Panthers don't screen more, though. Newton's screen's are an adventure. He seems to think every pass has to be thrown though a brick wall.

Did you read the ranking of the offensive line on running and blocking plays? Blocking -31st, rushing - 9th. Now please tell me if it's coincidental that we are near dead last in pass blocking and 30th in passing. You are smart, tell me.

Did you see that dump off that Barner dropped? That sure looked like a very strong pass to me. So your gripe now is about Sunday alone?

So out of 8 halves, Cam is not allowed to have one bad one? Surely he must be doing something right if its worked so far for the 7 other halves, no?

Actually, I am aware of three different metrics used to rank Carolina's offensive line.

One has their pass blocking, at I believe, 22nd, another at 24th.

Much of the metric you are talking about is based purely on Sacks...not taking into account how long the QB holds the ball. Yes, a QB can make an offensive line look much worse than it is.

I realize you need to blame Cam's performance on something, on anything other than his performance, but can you please simply answer the original question?

And by the way, I am not going to continue to argue with you on two different threads.

I really wonder about this board sometimes.

Did you not see that neither Kalil nor Wharton picked up the rusher? He came in untouched with Wharton blocking nothing but air. So are you telling me Cam should have known the o-line would fug up that badly?

No QB would have had a chance in hell on that play.

Edit: Sorry Celtic Cat. I didn't read the whole thread before posting. Your response left mine redundant.

What was Newton's passer rating going into last week's game???

I am not trying to argue with you, I'm trying to get you to be more analytical of a TEAM sport. I've failed woefully. Cam is not a good QB. I'm out of here.
