Upon Further Review: Week 7

I really like our ESPN writer David Newton.

Cam can: How impressive are Cam Newton's consecutive passer ratings of 143.4 (Minnesota) and 136.3 (St. Louis)? No other quarterback in the league -- including Peyton Manning, who is having a career year -- has had consecutive games of 136.0 or better this season. Newton was 15-for-17 for 204 yards and a touchdown against the Rams. Both incompletions were in the first half, and one was a drop by wide receiver Steve Smith. In Carolina's three wins Newton is 50-for-70 for 669 yards and seven touchdowns. He also ran for two touchdowns in those games.

Safety Mike Mitchell stood on the St. Louis sideline after Bradford out of bounds in the fourth quarter with his arms spread wide. He called that his "lurk," meaning he's always lurking in the secondary. Mitchell said he didn't realize Bradford had injured his knee, which would sideline him for the rest of the game.

Rookie first-round draft pick defensive tackle Star Lotulelei had a career-best six tackles, including two for losses. Second-round pick Kawann Short had three tackles, including two for losses. End Greg Hardy had four tackles, including a sack. Considering the Rams only ran 21 times, there weren't a lot of other opportunities. This is a sign the defense as a whole is playing better, not Kuechly playing worse.

Good write up all around.

Not sure if I should post this here. But, I just happened to pass by their last segment on ESPN first fake ( I don't watch their show, remote slipped), and that idiot says. " those 400 yard games are a thing of the past, and that Cam has become a game manager". Coming into the draft hw said Cam, " would never be a .more accurate thrower of the football then the t-blows". This guy takes cheep shots at .Cam every chance he gets. Same goes for bill polian, whose opinion also sucks.

gotta remember, point of those shows is ratings....not being objective.

Game managers don't have 4 TD games...he already has 2 this year.  He had 2 in 2011 and 1 of those games in 2012.  He isn't even half way through this season.

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
    • He is an employee of the team and speaking on the team's official channel. They arent critical of anything ever.
