Apropos of nothing, re: Dameyune Craig

Craig is the WR coach for Auburn (my school as I'm sure many have noticed).

Today I clicked this link to a tweet on his Twitter page...

Awesome pic of a key reception in Auburn's win at Texas A&M this weekend.

Then I looked down to the lower left and I thought "Wait a minute... Cam hasn't ever worn #2 while he was with the Panthers... WTF is this???!?!?"

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... I forgot about Dameyune's drink of water with the Panthers.

That pic does kinda look like Cam though!

Like I said... apropos of nothing... cool story, bro... tl;dr...

(P.S. Thanks for the "War Eagle!" shout-out at the end of your press conference Sunday, Cam. Iconcheers.gif )

I have honestly gotten the impression that Cam's connection to Auburn is pretty "meh" at least in comparison to some other guys.

This opinion is evidenced by Cam returning for classes, attending games after turning pro, and the fact that they put up a statue of him after one year.  Craig is there trying to remain relevant.

Well, don't really understand how you got that impression.  Since he left, he's been back a LOT.  I'm sure I don't have to tell you he spent last Spring semester at Auburn.  He has a great relationship with the current AU head coach, Gus Malzahn (his OC in 2010).

He's been interviewed a few times in this season by AU beat writers about Auburn.  Even predicted a win over Texas A&M this last weekend.

What does he need to do to satisfy you, buy a house there?

I think he likes the university (I don't think him attending classes there means anything) but living in Alabama and knowing the folk here I just don't get the impression that Cam has some fanatical obsession and dreamy nostalgic desire to return to "the good ole days" that Auburn fans here would like to believe he does. I think they feel as if he's some indoctrinated from birth War Eagle fan wishing he could go back, and I just don't think Cam feels *that* strongly about it. He's an ATL guy, hopped around to a few different colleges. Again, I think he's a fan of the university, but I don't think he's some Charles Barkley type rah rah guy.

Oh, and somebody saw my Panthers hat the other day and said they saw Cam Newton at Six Flags this summer and I've been wanting a decent enough excuse to mention it just because.
