My Observations, Bobcats vs Rockets

We can all agree it's near impossible to judge a team after one game but, I'll come right out and say it. This team still looks horribly undercoached. Steve Clifford looks like he is worse at distributing minutes correctly than Mike Dunlap. We started off hot but when the shots stopped falling for us we should of put in Ben Gordon and fed him the ball. It's unacceptable that we didn't give him any minutes. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist's shot is absolutely atrocious, I can't believe I'm saying it but, I think his shot has gotten even worse. I'm not even going to consider someone at age 20 a bust already but, his shot is just unacceptable. I thought Mark Price would have his form better by now. Henderson pissed me off so bad, what the fug was he doing out there? Whenever he got the ball he wouldn't pass it, he just immediately would heave an ill advised brick. 5-16 from the floor. Thank god we just gave him a new contract. We might regret not sign and trading him. Remember how a few people on here wanted to sign Monta Ellis? Well, he had 32 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 steals last night. Kemba started off hot and finished cold, but he had a decent game. My only knock on his game was dumping the ball off to Jefferson way too much. That might not be a bad thing when Jefferson is having a good game, too bad that was not the case last night. I'm almost convinced Jefferson's ankle had him limited and kept him from playing how he wanted to. He still needs to settle in so I guess you could give him a pass for going 6-19. I was not impressed with Cody Zeller, but It would be ridiculousness to judge him off of one game. I will say he needs more minutes than 16. Jeffery Taylor disappointed me to no ends. 28 minutes and only accumulated 5 points, 2 boards an assist and a block. Biyombo played like..... Biyombo. I'll leave it at that. The only real bright spot was Sessions reminding us why he is a top backup PG and McRoberts having a very decent night. Not many 6'10 Fowards can knock down threes like that.

Just once I would like to see how this team would play with Ben Gordon starting or getting 25+ minutes.

I'm not even going to talk about the Rockets, you saw what they did to us. Unacceptable, so fuging unacceptable.

Big Al missed preseason. I'm fine with feeding him relentlessly until he gets it going.

Sessions is absolute trash. IDK what you were watching. He made a couple decent plays but overall looked like the worst player on the court most of the time. I'll give him that he made a layup and a jumpshot in the same game for the first time in his life. He also got a couple lucky and-1's.

I'm perfectly fine with Gordon not seeing the floor. He has no future in Charlotte and no team is going to trade for even his expiring contract. He is not a good offensive player anymore and doesn't even attempt to play defense. No need for him on the court.

    • I get it's subjective and I said "PFF rated him as" one of the top deep ball passers during that time, which is an accurate statement.  They are still a group of professionals that look at film and data in order to make their judgements/ratings.  These people whose data has been incorporated into a lot of teams' staffs view Bryce's deep throws as some of the best in the league during that stretch.  That tells me that he can probably throw a deep pass vs the Huddle's version of he is small and didn't do it his rookie year so he must not be able to.  That and literally seeing him do it just makes me feel he is more than capable of doing so.   Do you think PFF is skewing their opinion to prop up a QB in a bottom tier franchise?  It's just another group's opinion and I feel is pretty respected around the league currently.  It's not the gospel truth or anything.
    • I still remember how happy I was that gettlegut was not the GM once he picked Jones, that was a firing pick and well..... If not for the raiders drafting Clelin Ferrell, it was the biggest draft day mistake in the last 20 some years.
    • He had 251 passing yards. 3 passing touchdowns and 2 rushing touchdowns. All in all a very impressive game. Problem is I do not envision his rushing ability translating like that over the course of the upcoming season. Yeah it will be something to account for from time to time but one it's not sustainable and two you don't want to put his durability to the ultimate test against a motivated defender willing to take a penalty and a fine. And plus with our backfield. Two 1k yard rushers. That's what they're here for. Then we have a much improved WR room. That means Bryce has to elevate those passing numbers substantially. The fact of the matter is regardless of circumstances it did take him 23 games to surpass Kyle Allen's single season passing yardage from 13 games in 2020. And that is not a high bar by any means. Whatever QB tier Bryce ends up in from here amongst his peers this upcoming season when it's all said and done it will be with his arm.
