Myths about Panthers players and coaches that were busted on Sunday.

Ok John Fox...I know the other team practices as well.

Who said anything about a blow out anyway....my stance is production vs good/decent defenses. (Rams game being 1 good one)

I just look at our offensive rank and have an issue with poo like "Shula has been great" when he hasn't been.

He hasn't been a complete disaster like some thought but that doesn't mean he is even better than Chud was with this unit...much less great.

Defense has carried the year.

How many open passes were dropped?  How many wrong routes were run? How many passes did Cam sail? how many fumbles did this team have?  Cant blame Shula if the players don't execute the plays right

Yea those two plays were awesome....if that is ALL you saw then there is little to discuss.

3 points from good second half adjustments....just wait until he actually screws up :startle:

There  were other plays as well but those 2 stand out as plays where Shula totally fooled the defense with some pretty good play calling. If Gano doesnt miss and we make a few catches on clearly dropped passes and it would have been more like 13 points.  And frankly that was more than enough to win.

I'm fine with that too, the defense did great!

The team did great.  Anyone who has ever played at any level knows each side of the ball feeds off the other.  They pick each other up as well. This time the defense, next week the offense is going to have put up more points and might rescue the defense. As long as we win, who cares really.

Too many, too many, too many, too many.

Now...

How many screens did we call in the face of heavy pressure?

How many long developing plays were called instead of shorter routes?

I'm not blaming Shula for what the players do....

I'm always fine with a win but there are always things to look at and consider.

Shula has flashed some impressive plays but has also shown that he 'out smarts' himself or doesn't have a feel for the other teams pass rush. (by calling timely screens or routes that don't take 7 seconds to develop)

Offensive rankings really are blown out of proportion.  First of all they use total yards which is not indicative of anything.  Want a better one?  How about 3rd down percentage made?? We are 3rd at 46%. Or points per game even though we have faced some tough defenses?  We are 15th at 23.8.  For reference the number 2 team New Orleans is at 29.4 and the number 8th team, New England is at 26 so the difference between everyone but Denver is pretty close.

What helps the defense as much as anything is that Shula has integrated running and passing into a balanced attack which eats up clock and keeps the defense from being on the field all day.  It will be even more critical against Brady.  We are number 1 in offensive time of possession.

Our 3rd down conversion rate has been awesome this year, something that we have struggled with the last.....well... bunch of years.

Yards mean nothing to me either so PPG is what I like to go by but staying on the field is definitely a good stat. We have lost the big play in favor of longer drives and more conversions which is fine.

I think we led the league in 20+ yard plays for the last 2 years but this year we are last.

We can live with that given our TOP and 3rd down conversion %.

Can't argue with our 3rd downs and ToP this year...its been fabulous.

I still hate how they barely ever get the snap off on every play though...not sure what the deal is with that.

Shula is focusing and refining the offense and letting the players contribute particularly Cam. It continues to adapt and change based on what defenses give up like it should.  We are number 1 in time of possession which shows that we can make long drives and keep possession of the ball which is the halmark of a good offense.  Can we get better?  of course.   Is Shula still learning and working to get better?  Of course.  But for where we are, I like it better than when Chud was here. Lots of flashy deep plays but way too many 3 and outs.  it kept the defense on the field way too long which is one reason we gave up so many late leads.

Yeah we had too many go right down to less than 2 seconds. Had to call at least 2 timeouts.  With simplified language it should  be easier and quicker not harder.

I addressed that in my other post but I agree that it's a different way of offense that I can live with.

We shouldn't completely abandon the home run threats but we honestly don't have consistent deep threats anyway so he should/has been coaching to what we have.  Not faulting him for that at all.

and their scrubs could probably start on our oline.  you might watch it, but i'm not sure you know what you're seeing.

You just don't know what you are talking about, it's that simple.

The stats, the eyes, and anyone who watches NFL football disagrees with you.
