What does Riverboat Ron look for in an assistant coach?

Shula's Offense scheme plays to the strength of the players and compliments the defense with time of possession. We need to get weapons for  Cam and upgrade the O-line that matches the physicality like our D-line.

People have to put things on perspective. You can't have a high scoring offense and a number one defense. The time of possession doesn't matchup.

After this year, both of our coordinators will likely be in discussions for HCs at both the college and pro levels.  Shula's actually been a HC at Alabama, and can now point to some success to justify another shot.  He's also on a one year deal.

 

If you recall, everyone defended the Shula hiring as the right one, for continuity and conservatism's sake.  But say he's gone for whatever reason.  Do you think Rivera finds another guy just like him--a keep it simple type of guy?  Or does he roll the dice and look for the next Sean Payton? 

 

Can you imagine this team with a creative OC?

Yep. With a beefy line the rb's could feast and open up the passing lanes. Ted ginn would be a thousand yard receiver. Cam has made such great progress at staying in the pocket. Give him 1 more second and he would shred secondary's.

Who the hell would want Shula or McDermott as a head coach? I wouldn't want them leading the Panthers. Then again the Browns hired Chud so there are idiots out there. Still Mike Zimmer has no HC offers.

Doubt either go.....Shula has had some good games at play calling but come on....without an athletic QB such as SuperCam some of his calls would not happen.....McD might get some interviews but doubt he gets a hire...not with Lovie, Gruden, Dungy, some up and coming college coaches....but if he does leave maybe Rex Ryan?  Chico could keep him out of the spotlight just keep him focused on Def....Rex is a great def mind...and as the post mentions above Jason Garrett for Off coordinator.  Cowboys play pretty well on that side of the ball their Def is horrible and Romo makes some really bad decisions.  Also do you really think Garrett has been able to open his playbook.  When he took over as Interim he performed well as the coach then Jerry just took him over as his puppet after he took away the interim tag and put head coach.....its Jerry's World out there.............KEEP POUNDING!!!!
