I like the fact that he's a worker. We don't have to have him start this year. He just needs to serve as talented depth for pass rush.

Exactly. Irvin was not a finished product coming out of college, and the Panthers didn't need him to be.

I was pretty pissed about this pick at first too because I thought we seriously reached for Irvin as well. But then it occured to me if we took Duke Robinson in the 3rd and took Irvin in the 5th I would have been very happy with the picks.

For those of you that missed that one, they're also showing the bowl game between Georgia and Michigan St. tonight at the same time. You can get a look at Justin Kershaw in this one as well as Irvin.

kershaw seems like a guy thats too small to be a DT..but thats were we have him..

Yeah, he looks more like a DE as far as body type goes. Hell, Peppers looks more like a DT than Kershaw does. I'll be surprised if he makes the cut, but we will see. You never know when a guy is gonna step up and surprise you like Jordan Carstens did.

As for Irvin, he did get a sack in the Michigan St. game... it was in garbage time though. I still liked how he held the point on most running plays, but he definitely needs to learn to get off of blocks better and to recognize plays a little quicker. He's certainly a work in progress, but you can also see that he has the potential to be a good rotational guy, at least.
