I wonder how Cutler's contract will affect Cam's

I just lurked around the Bears forum and found most fans supporting Cutler. Even though he has done NOTHING for their franchise.

Take this from me, there are a lot of players' fan. Some for racial reason and some are just casual fans. It looks like we have a lot of players' fan in Carolina. Some of them come here just to announce to us that they support Brees, Brady, Luck, Rodgers, Gabbert, Sanchez, Henne, Quinn,...Shall I keep going? The QB position is very sacred to some. It's not just another position on the field to some. It has to meet certain criteria. Fans can objectively debate between AJ Green and Calvin Johnson with no stress but debating Ryan Leaf and Aquili Smith evoke so many emotions. The NFL and their fans have ways to go. By the way, who do you think is the better QB, Bridgewater or Winston? lol

Well, I wouldn't exactly argue that Rodgers is better than Cam either. Passing wise Rodgers is definitely better but as an all around player Cam got that hands down. In a team where it's not guaranteed that your receivers will catch your passes for you like the panthers Cam is definitely a better player. But if you have a team where you can go 5 WR set and all can catch balls for you, Rodgers is certainly better. QBs are as good as their WRs. Cam is not. Cam can control the clock and eat you up 5 yards at a time with his legs when WRs are in their dropsy mode and he's done that a lot this year. Cam is just a monster. Rodgers is very successful with the WC throwing the ball every down and his stats reflect it. Don't get it twisted people.

Rodgers is a specialized player and and Cam is the jack of all trades. Some coaches prefer the jack of all trades more than the specialist. Fact, if you have good skill players and the QB throws the ball a lot, that QB will accumulate gaudy stats. Brees, roaders, etc.

I was talking about Rogers first few years in the NFL Riding the pine behind Brett Farve.

Yeah, Cam was better his first three years, we can say; cause Rogers didn't play! Lol

Rogers was learning to be a QB those years behind Farve, as Cam is learning now on the job.

As far as today: Rogers is arguably the best. And is where Cam aspires to be (along with some good weapons and playing in a QB friendly system, such as Rogers, and unlike Cam now).

    • So the last guy who had the job got hired by his former team directly into a role he has no direct experience in?
    • Hard to pass up millions for a couple of days work per week for a coaching gig in the NFL that is 60-80 hours each week during the season and a more relaxed 50 hours a week during the off season. Yeah, I'd love to see him as our DC but hard to see him giving up the cushy job there if he gets it. And he's going to be a great commentator for the network.
    • Really, I think that is where negotiations come in. If you've got a QB getting you to 10 wins but statistically he's not a great performer, then you say look you can take $22 million or you can try it on the market. Because let's face it, out there, any leadership skills that we're seeing aren't going to be on the table, it's just going to be performance and that lands him in the QB2 market, which is much, much less lucrative (although any of us would love that money).  No one is saying that Bryce will be a $50 million QB, barring something short of a miraculous jump. I'm just saying that if we are winning somehow with him at the helm, then it would be fuging stupid to dive back into the rookie pool all over again. Let's say we do hit the 10 win mark, heck, let's call it 11 and a second round in the playoffs. I think we can all say that would be a really uplifting result and one that should be doable if we have good play. What do we do then? Here's what I would offer if I were Morgan and Tepper. $25 million a year for 3 years, each year with up to $10 million in incentives for touchdowns, wins, playoff depth, being under 10 interceptions, completing a full season, passing yardage milestones, taking less than 15 sacks. Look, Bryce isn't a Ferrari, he isn't a Corvette, or a mid-level BMW. He's probably a new Toyota Sienna that will definitely get you somewhere and bring the whole team along with it, no fuss but not a lot of pizazz.  And really, it's about the destination, not about what drove you there.
