Has Harbaugh Changed?

When Jim Harbaugh was at Stanford, I will admit I was a fan of his. I thought he was a good, hard-nosed coach. I think this may have been because he was the coach at a perennial underdog. Now, I see him as a whiny, arrogant douche-nozzle. He always sees to have exaggerated reactions to calls he didn't agree with. I honestly don't know how he doesn't get flagged more for a sideline warning or unsportsmanlike conduct. Thoughts?

I couldn't believe that punt on the Packers 34 and 4th and 2. Yeah, it's cold, but Ron would have Riverboated the hell out of that. And yet people here constantly used Harbaugh as an example of an aggressive coach in the offseason. With the touchback they gained 14 lousy yards of field position.

Agreed. Maybe I just overlooked that at Stanford. I wanted him bad here in Carolina, but yeah, he seems like a whiny douche. I think he's one of those guys that you love if he's with your team but during despise if he's not.

But that's the thing: I'm not a Stanford fan at all, either. For some reason he some seemed like a guy you could root for there. Everything he's done in the NFL has made me feel completely different. The story about him being a candidate for the Texas opening gives you a fine example of his character. While I can't see why he would leave SF for a college job, politely declining would have been the way to go about business. Instead, he calls the idea "a joke" and acts like he's too good for such a move. Such an arrogant bastard...

I don't give a damn about Stanford. I just liked how they played under Harbaugh. However, they play pretty much the same way under Shaw and he doesn't seem to have a bunch of screws loose.

I actually prefer them under Shaw. They've been just as successful and have done so without a very good QB and certainly not one on Andrew Luck's level.

he's a good coach. i think he is a tad overrated though. He hasn't drafted very well since he took over singletary's job (although i'm not sure if they replaced the gm as well, i realize it's not all on the coach)

i think trading smith away may prove to be a mistake in the future. kaepernick is just not progressing very well (he's getting by with his athleticism alone, which to a lot of posters dismay is pretty incredible) and Harbaugh is suppose to be some qb guru.

he does come across as arrogant and the kind of guy i hated to play a pick-up game of basketball with because they talk poo and bitch about fuging anything.

At this point, Smith is a far better QB than Kaepernick. Smith has done more with far inferior weapons (outside of Charles) than Kaepernick. If he was in SF right now, I wouldn't feel so good about this coming Sunday.

    • I know its Payton but he knows football...Dipper ran him off when we had a chance...we need people like this that can evaluate talent.... 'Nix was selected by the Denver Broncos in the first round (12th overall) of the 2024 NFL draft.[33] Nix initially drew the interest of Broncos head coach Sean Payton due to his high completion rate and low negative play differential in college, in addition to an impressive performance in private workouts'. Pretty simple... I bet he threw for coach too.
    • I swear I’ve seen the writing on the wall since Chuba come back that Dowdle is going to be traded. He is flat out a harder and faster runner than Hubbard and made the offense move better than Chuba, gained more yards per carry and willed the Panthers to victory with two massive performances. But for some inane reason, the coaching staff hasn’t let Dowdle continue his hot streak. There have been trade rumors and I feel like if the Panthers get a mid round pick in return the Panthers will take it. They drafted Etienne and Hubbard is on a big contract. It makes no sense, he’s looked better than any other Panthers player on the offense this year, but he’s not getting playing time with Hubbard back and it seems he’s being shopped for trade.  This team is just infuriating sometimes and it’s no secret why every year they seem to struggle.
    • 1) The decision to try to trot the FG team on the field to kick a field goal before halftime was completely ridiculous. You are down 16. The offense can come back to the line faster just line up and take another shot.    2) Whatever in the hell this Rico/Chuba thing is sucks. Everyone from the huddle to the media to random other fans on X are in disbelief. Chuba either isn’t what we thought he was or he has lost a step. I’m almost positive the FO doesn’t want to look stupid for paying him and / or Canales doesn’t have the courage to tell him he’s number 2.
