Growl's Senior Bowl South Practice Thread

Here at the Senior Bowl, watching the South practice. About to crank up. Jordan Matthews is obviously the name Panther fans wanna hear about so I'll keep an eye on him.

Gettleman and Don Gregory have both made an appearance, along with a number of scouts who I've met over the years who actually recognized me and came up to say hey to me which was really awesome and I appreciate it. (perks of being a fan through the down years is that the team appreciates you I suppose ha)

We're starting now. Windy out here today, but the weathers not too bad.

KO drills. Cody Hoffman is a guy I think Panther fans should watch. NFL frame. Runs hard. Will take a special interest once offensive contact drills get under way.

I read some articles about him and it seems he is like a spiders web and catches anything close to him.  Not sure about speed or separation or if he is just big enough to block off the defender.  Love to get your comments after watching him.

This is going to piss people off but Matthews just does not seem like he cares all that much about being here.

Adrian Hubbard has the same issue.

Kyle Van Noy is big and explosive and hits someone every play. Full tempo every rep.

Cody Hoffman is the best WR on the field and dont let anybody tell you different.

Powerful off the line, viciously disengages the defender and drives down the field. Route fakes have been effective and kidnaps the ball out of the air.

DO WANT

    • So... what metrics for production do you believe display these issues/limitations best? Are we only using total passing yards, height, and weight thresholds? If so, then what are those thresholds?
    • I mean as far as his size goes it's all over his tape bouncing up and down on his toes in and around the pocket trying to see the field and defenses know this as well as we do but if folks here want to live in never never land and pretend it's not a thing that's their prerogative. Even our head coach has made it a key focal point to get his footwork under control. But it's still something Bryce is going to be tested on early and often no matter how many keystrokes anyone here commits to the narrative it isn't an issue.
    • It speaks volumes that when asked to define a clear performance threshold the responses instead fixate on Bryce's size. It reinforces what’s been clear for a while now... that for some, it has never been nor will it ever be about production. Any struggles will always be chalked up to his frame, and any strong play will be downplayed or disqualified via highly mobile goalposts.
