Game 52: Carolina Hurricanes (23-19-9) vs. Columbus Blue Jackets (26-21-4)

Recommended Posts

I haven't made one of these threads in a while but I figured that the biggest game of the year deserves it... plus we have a CBJ fan on the board as well.

What: Carolina Hurricanes vs. Columbus Blue Jackets

When: 7:00 P.M.

Where: PNC Arena (Raleigh, North Carolina)

Last 10: CAR: 7-3, CBJ: 8-2

In what is the biggest game for the Hurricanes this season, they are at home taking on the Blue Jackets; a team that always seems to have their number. The Canes are coming off a six goal effort against the Senators, eerily enough; the last time they (the Canes) put up six goals they were shut out the next game by none other than the Columbus Blue Jackets.

However, it appears that this game may be different, Muller has finally found a combination of forwards that is generating offense and it all starts with the big line of Tlusty, E. Staal, and Semin. The key in tonight's game will be the play of the third pairing defense of Jay Harrison and Mike Komisarek who have really struggled as of late, if they can keep Dubinsky's and Letestu's lines of the score sheet then the Canes will win.

If the Canes can get the win in regulation tonight, they will jump Philadelphia and Columbus in the standings giving them third place in the Metro division.

Here's to a Canes Win!!!

    • Sure.    ignore that he said this roster wasn’t good in 2023 to 2024 but keep up the effort
    • While I don't believe its a must win, (we have been better on the road this post season) it is definitely A NEED TO WIN the longer this series goes the more pronounced the Canes advantage on rest and health will be! If we hold serve at home in games 1 and 2 guaranteeing a 6 game minimum series for them if we lose the road games..... by the game 4 and 5 I expect them to be beat they have played A LOT OF HOCKEY the last three years, they have MINIMAL rest off a more physical than one might have expected series vs the leafs.... you know Tampa took their pound of flesh in round 1 from them. Combine all that with the fact that even though this year's canes squad isn't as talented as last years this IS a better squad than the one they swept last time that had McKenzie Mckeathern on line 1 Turbo with a broken hand a banged uo and eventually concussed Slavin (and even though it was a sweep 6 OTS and 4 1 goal losses is hardly dominant)  This year Bob hasn't been superman (hes probably gonna still have a great save percentage agiast us just a side effect of our style) Thatchuk is maybe 50% (3 game winners agiast us) their defense no longer has Gudas and several other downgrades.  While the Canes have a healthy and performing Svechnikov along with other big guys to counteract florida like Carrier, Jankowski, Robinson.   I by know means think it will happen but I either see this as a low scoring dog fight or a series were the canes surprise and end up dominating.
