Zac Efron recently confirmed that he is in talks to join the cast of the new Star Wars Episode VII film.

When the first rumored details of the film began to circulate, they included that the dynamic trio of Ryan Gosling, Leonardo DiCaprio and Zac Efron were being considered for roles in the up-and-coming film.

However, according to Latino-Review DiCaprio decided to turn down the idea because of his other role in Robotech, while Gosling’s representatives joined in by saying “no” to the deal as well.

However, the former High School Musical star recently confirmed he met with Disney to discuss a deal.

In an interview with After Hours with Josh Horowitz, the three leading men of That Awkward Moment discussed which of the three would consider being in a Star Wars movie.

Efron quickly responded with, “I just met with them, so I don’t know. It would be cool.”

A huge fan of the films, he continued, “I love them, but… who knows?”

The Transformers star has been cast in Barry Levinson’s new indie comedy Rock the Kasbah. Levinson’s last film was the found-footage horror The Bay, released in 2010.

Gary Oldman has become the latest actor to reveal talks with the makers of Star Wars: Episode VII.
 
Speaking to Sky Movies while promoting José Padilha's RoboCop remake, Oldman admitted he had been in discussions. He did not specify which role he might be playing in JJ Abrams's revival of the long-running saga, and made it clear the matter was far from sealed.
 
"They've called," said Oldman. "I don't know if its, er … You know, I'm more cynical about it now. I'll believe it when I'm on the plane home. The deal isn't done, but yeah, they've inquired. I mean Planet of the Apes, Harry Potter, Batman and Star Wars... bloody hell!"
 
Star Wars: Episode VII is due to shoot in London this year, for a December 2015 release date. The stars of the original trilogy, Mark Hamill(Luke Skywalker),Carrie Fisher(Princess Leia) and Harrison Ford(Han Solo), are expected to be centre stage once again, but the only 100% confirmed character is diminutive space droid R2-D2.
