Brandin Cooks relishes Smitty Comparisons.

QBs like Cam just never seem to have all pro type receivers to throw to. I wanna see that poo at least once in my lifetime. Saw a glimpse of it with McNabb and T.O. and we all saw what happened for that one year. I credit that to those QBs overachieving going from worse to first too quickly. So they don't accumulate enough top draft picks.

We had our chances. Steve being Superman for so long somehow makes it hard for us to eventually move on from him

Of all fan bases, we should be most receptive to the idea of an undersized WR. Don't understand the obsession with getting a 6' 5" guy like it will magically solve Cam's tendency to overthrow people.

We're the only franchise with a midget as our #1 target. It's not the norm. Every so-called elite QB in the league have at least one jump ball receiver on their team.

Smith would have been the #2 receiver 4 years ago with most other teams. Guys like Cam need to start opening their mouth and make some demands. McNabb was known for keeping his mouth shut like a scared little biatch so he waste all his career throwing to some stick called pinkston. Now Cam is about to start his fourth year with a 5'9 35 year old as his #1 target. I'm sure those other so-called elite QBs wouldn't tolerate that.

I like Cooks a lot and would not mind at all if we drafted him. The more play makers on the team, the better.

If he runs a 4.5 at the combine like someone said in this thread, he could be available later in the 2nd. Combine will be big for these receivers, there is so much depth at the position, some players will start standing out during the combine.

He said he'll run in the 4.3s.

That's true. Tom Brady too. Just recently they're saying it's about that time to get him somebody. Atleast he had Randy for one point

Brady had his share of jump ball guys with gronk, hernandez, and moss. I'm sure they're in search for another one to compliment gronk. They make a concerted effort to make it easy for those so-called elite guys. More elite more weapons. You'd think the reverse would be the norm.

As much as I would hate to miss out on a guy that could be a playmaker like Smitty his measurables are just a turnoff. We need big targets for cam not little ones.

Would you be opposed to drafting Cooks at 28 if we let Hardy walk. Bring in a second tier Defensive end like Will Smith, Tuck or Micheal Bennett. Then use the remaining money to bring in Hakeem Nicks , Mitchell, Ginn and draft O-line and secondary thereafter?

There are several ways to build this castle. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer if the puzzle pieces fit.

I think you're overrating the hell out of McNabb.  Andy Reid makes every QB look good.

    • Would Morgan or Beason have been HOFers' if injuries hadn't derailed their careers?  I was not a close watcher of the game when Morgan was in his prime but I thought Beason had a few seasons at close to Lukes' level of play.
    • Franchise QBs feast when things are rolling and the tide that raises boats when things are going sideways.  Bryce isn't that. He's a complimentary player, that's it.  When the defense and STs are on point, he plays loose and it shows.  When we are in a dog fight and things haven't gone our way, he struggles.  It's that simple. He's not a horrible QB, but he's not top tier either.  So the question begs, is this worthy of a second contract?  The answer should be no.  It definitely is my answer. Bryce will never be a QB that can produce wins largely on his arm.  That's a FRANCHISE QB, any other QB is simply a placeholder at the starter's position until that guy can be found.   At some point the excuses of lack of weapons will be a straw man.  Heck, it's nearly there now.  I mean if he doesn't look even better than last year will we blame it on the TE position?  'Well if Bryce only had a player like Kelce, Kittle or Gronk on this team...'  Are we really going to do that?
    • When I arrived at college, I was 18, not too much younger than some of these draft picks.  It was not a huge school, but there were guys on the team who were 21, 22, 23....playing ahead of me.  I was seventh on the depth chart.  Those guys have been through a few seasons, were stronger, more knowledgeable.  I was a better raw player than some of them, but those other factors matter.  As I grew stronger, more familiar with the playbook, and learned what it was like to play in college, I gradually improved and with that, I rose up the depth chart.  It took most of my freshman year for the light to come on.  Had the coach thrown me into the starting lineup day 1, I would have probably failed.    And that was college.  So I agree with you based on my experience on a much lower level.  Frankly, I think that is why so many kids drafted to fill huge gaps bust.  The teams are desperate.  Anyone who looks to fill vacancies in the starting lineup through the draft is desperate.  You draft depth to develop.  For this reason, I say, "Let Walker start for a while."  Maybe Brazzell can be our WR 4.  Throw Hunter into a rotation and ask him to do one or two things.  Freeling needs some strength and he needs to work on run blocking.
