That would be amazing, but it's a pipe dream.

Aren't you the one who adamantly advocated a big receiver for Cam in the Brandin Cooks thread? You went on and on and on about Cooks being too short, and yet signing Jackson would be "amazing"? He's like 5'10...maybe 5'11 with his big boy shoes.

I don't mean to be rude, but you often seem to just want to argue for the sake of arguing...I don't know if you even believe half the stuff you post on here. You remind me of that guy in debate class who was assigned to argue the pros of child abuse or some impossible stance that NO ONE wanted...just trying to argue with your back against the wall using really trivial arguments (in my opinion).

And just to be clear, this has nothing to do with the LaFell stuff last night. I actually agreed with you mostly there...this is just something I've gathered from reading countless threads in here. I lurk 10x more than I post on here...

That was about a draft prospect who has not taken a single snap in the NFL yet. We are talking about a proven player here. You can't see the difference?

Really man?  There goes your back against the wall again...

What does DeSean Jackson being a "proven player" have to do with his ability to go up and snag high passes?  That was your concern right?  Is it his insane 34.5" vertical jump?

We need a tall guy who can go up, and get the ball. Stop looking for the next Steve Smith. Too many Marty Hurney's here.

It's great to be enamored with a player, but we are unlikely to be able to draft him anyway, and Cam Newton needs a bigger target.

Cam is still working on the overthrows, a taller receiver would do him more good

Unfortunately, talent, and upside won't make him grow taller.

Yet he will still only be 5'10

Talent alone can only make up for lack of height for so long. Time waits for no man. See Steve Smith.

^This one is especially telling considering you acknowledged that Cooks could be extremely talented but his height would eventually catch up with him.  Why would your above quote not apply to DeSean Jackson again?  I'm not even picking out the quotes that support my argument either...those are literally your first 6 posts on the topic.  Your ONLY knock on Cooks was that he's short...nothing about his game not being able to translate to the NFL, since all signs point to him being a productive player.  He played in a pro-style system, he runs good routes, catches passes over the middle, good hands, good speed...EVERYTHING you'd want except for height.

DeSean Jackson is a damn good deep threat and I think he'd be a good asset for our team, but he sure as hell is not a big target for Cam which is what you advocated with about 97 posts in that Cooks thread.

LOL.

I'm predicting right now, Brandin Cooks will be a more complete WR than D-Jax. He's tougher (hasn't missed a game on any level so far. He's stronger (see Combine bench press results), and he's faster (yes, he beat D-jax's 4.35).  Furthermore, he's probably going to be every much as big of a play-maker as he is about as explosive as they come, being heralded as being able to stop and start as quickly as some have ever seen.  Moreover, he is a high character guy who doesn't strike the world as a diva.  I'd go with Cooks before I'd overpay D-Jax.  Just sayin'.

Easy. I just did. That's a fact when you compare their respective college careers and Combine results.  The only thing left is for Cooks to be drafted and do his thing on the pro level. Like I said, I believe he will be the more complete receiver. You have the option to believe otherwise, but you can't discount my belief, though I'm sure that you'd love to.

Unfortunately, successful careers in the NFL are not made by belief alone. Nor are they by having nice combine results

Plenty of players have had successful college careers, yet done little when they made it to the NFL. It's no guarantee.

I hope this guy will be successful, but there are limits for hype.

You do know you that don't have to take a dump on every other player to make a prospect look good right?

So, who "dumped" on a player, much less ever other player?

Your characterization of fellow Huddlers' comments are at best confused misunderstandings, and at worst outright fabrications.

Nip your modus operandi in the bud.

This thread is about DeSean Jackson, if you want to talk about Cooks, bump a thread about him.

Lol I can't bring up valid player comparisons now? On the surface, Cooks is arguably a DeSean Jackson clone. I didn't know your attention span is that fragile. Ironic coming from someone who was the first to bring up Steve Smith in that very same Brandin Cooks thread...I guess someone should have told you to start a new thread about Steve Smith cause that topic was about Cooks.

But I'll bite, let's go back to Jackson. He's a good receiver and all, but I kind of think Cam needs a bigger target. I would love to hear your thoughts on that.

Oh crap sorry for bringing up Cam in a DeSean Jackson thread...silly me. Didn't mean to derail!!
