Anyone here familiar with Wingate University?

Figured I'd ask people here since I'm many states away. I'm looking at the Grad program for my Master's degree and don't know too much about the school other then what's on their website. Anyone here know anything good or bad regarding the school itself or curriculum? Good school/bad school? Ever work with any Grad students from there? Any stories? Anything at all?

Looking at a lot of schools all over the country recently and slowly narrowing down the list. Some schools I can't get in, some I can but dont like the location, etc. so any bit of info can help. Thanks guys.

Great school. Everyone who disagrees can suck it ;)

It is my alma mater. Had a great time there. It is a small private school but I felt a really good institution.

I liked the local community. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.

I actually really like the smaller school aspect. As long as its near a city (for internships/assistantships/etc). Glad to hear u enjoyed it. How was the atmosphere?

I don't know how any self respecting conservative could talk poo about Jesse Helms' alma mater

Yikes....Jesse Helms was a completely senile and crazy mofo.  That dude was trouble.

Only thing I liked him for was that he gave me my nomination to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point.

There is nothing wrong with Wingate as a school.....it is just a pretty expensive school that does not have the pedigree and reputation that other schools of similar costs gives you.

Unless it has a rather large endowment, going to a small liberal arts college for grad school may not be the best path.  Unless you are doing it in humanities and that's fine.  They have many leather bound books and creaky old libraries to fall asleep in during research.

OK, not really.

/hard science bias

    • Maybe a bit of a homer take but I can't give us a grade lower than A.   Freeling was arguably the best LT prospect in the draft.  His athletic ability is off the chart and at 6'7" that can move.  It was a no brainer pick.   Hunter's key word is Violence. Putting him next to Brown should scare an offensive coordinator. These two give Scourton and Phillips plenty of chances to get one on one opportunities. Brazzell, another tall receiver with sprinter speed.  Our WR room is filled with tall talented WR.  Brazzell is going to give us a WR that can take to roof off the defense.  Basically Jimmy Horn with size. W. Lee III has a nickname of the Blanket. (heard this on the Beleav podcast with J. Stewart)  What a great name.  A great value in the 5th round. Hecht A strong, fast and extremely smart center. Many had him listed as the best center in the draft.  He's most likely a starter sooner than later. Wheatley A good safety in round 5.  Someone who could see playing time.   Kuwatch  I love this pick.  At minimum he will be a key piece on special teams and with some good coaching he'll see some packages where he'll play.  His down piece is he doesn't stay up in the running game.  Good coaching will fix this.  He reminds me a bit of A.J. Klein.   All these picks were great value.  I believe everyone of them were graded higher than the pick we took them.   Dan Morgan is IMO doing a great job turning this team into a good team with great depth.
    • Moton is a class act.
    • Sure, that is possible. That’s what, an extra 55 yards a game on average and 7 more TDs? What if he’s just 15th?  I imagine they would extend him in that situation due to the belief that he’ll keep trending up. maybe a 3 year contract to prove he can be top 10? Sounds like a Tepper plan.
