Hakeem Nicks: "I can see myself catching passes from Cam Newton" (among others)

Nicks has an overinflated view of himself. He's decent, sure. But he's not exactly bulletproof or reliable. He's not coming here cuz he wants more than DG will spend IMO.

i don't think he's acting any differently than anyone trying to get the best job possible. you've got to sell yourself and have high expectations of what you think you should get if you have any hope of getting the best deal possible...esp. when your recent performance was lacking.

what he wrote was perfectly understandable. what's not understandable is why you thought it necessary to derail a thread by calling him out. what needs to be understandable by you is that you don't need to be doing it again unless you want a vacation.

if you don't have anything substantive to add to a thread beyond complaining about what you perceive to be illiterate posting, stay out of it.

I'm sorry that having to spend 5 minutes to read a short paragraph is not worthy of a response. It seems that the people who have pie'd my posts seem to agree.

like i said, i understood it just fine and I've seen a whole lot worse in here on a regular basis from other posters.

whether your inability to comprehend what he said was his fault or yours, don't be pulling that crap.

you don't have to like it, but you also don't have to attack.

I do not see teams buying his fluff after last years performance but I could be wrong. GMan is probably in a pretty good position with his relationship and understanding of the Giants to determine his worth/reward.

He played on a highly dysfunctional team last year. his lack of production had a lot to do with Eli throwing it to the other team.

agreed. situations like that make it pretty hard to judge a players value. anyone basing smitty's value on his performance in 2010 would have been foolish. granted eli>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>teh jimmay, but nothing on that offemse worked well and all of their top talents underachieved. still, he caught a lot of balls and got a  lot of yardage...he just couldn't get into the endzone, which really no one was doing very well or often. that was a whole team effort at sucking.

That's why I don't read too much into last season. It wasn't like he was the only one on the team with a down year. The whole team had a down year.

    • All these rankings have more to do with the writers love or hate for a team.  Morgan, IMO, has done a really good job at building this team.  Yeah, there are a couple of whiffs but for the most part he has done quite well drafting and signing free agents.  22 is a bit low but it's a stupid opinion based on how little a writer knows about the Panthers.
    • When I saw that I was thinking the same thing.  If Evero does have a great season and gets hired as a head coach I wouldn't mind see McD as our DC.  If we do poorly as a team, I definitely would want him to be the front runner for HC.
    • But it's not about not upsetting a player under contract, it's about not causing a rift in the locker room. The players love Bryce, whether as a person or a player doesn't matter.  You can't spend a Top 10 pick on a QB and then still start your #1 overall pick in the last year of their contract. That act alone will cause a massive locker room rift/distraction that would be unavoidable.  Some players will question why you "wasted" a Top 10 pick on a QB you're not going to start instead of someone who can help right away.  While others will question why we are keeping Bryce around for the season when it's clear he's not the future guy at that point. It would just make for a bad start to the rookie's career while causing locker room distractions.  Again, I'd bet this has never happened in this league before with any 1st round QB, let alone the #1 overall pick, and there is a reason for it, which is that it would be epically stupid to do. And I used the Vikings as the example as they're the closest I can think of, because again, there isn't a direct comparison as nobody has ever done it because it's that dumb of an idea (no offense lol).
