Brayton

I found this on a Raider's forum when I did a Google search for "Tyler Brayton" combine:

Posted in the draft room a few weeks ago:

I saw a mock that had us taking Tyler Brayton in round one so I did a little research.

From Mr. Murder: "Post their cone drill quick twitch times, best way to determine their burst/direction change quickness..."

Tyler had the 2nd fastest cone drill time, 7.13, after Antwan Peek of all DE's.

2-27-03 Ran 4.67 in the 40... at 6-foot-6, 267 pounds... also did 25 reps of 225 pounds... this has been one of our personal favorites all season... (His max is 435)

1-13-03 plays hard... gets upfield... improved run defender and tackler... has the best upside of any defensive lineman at this year's game... needs to add some weight before the Combine... 265 pounds currently... an impressive Combine could move him into the mid-to-late second round...

1-09-03 Colorado DL Tyler Brayton has been very strong so far... he has a long, lean frame... strong upper body and hands... can play inside or out... moving up with this week's performance...

1-08-03 Colorado DL Tyler Brayton has played mostly at LDT... but has also moved out to DE in 1-on-1 drills... he whipped several opponents on Tuesday... showing impressive all-around skills... his status is on clearly on the upswing...

1-07-03 East-West Shrine Game: Colorado DL Tyler Brayton may end up being the top-rated player at this game... he has a non-stop motor... very intense... tipped a punt on special teams... and chased the play down on two occasions... despite being in just shoulder pads and shorts...

He's also smart and not a head case from what I've read.

All of it seems spot on, from what I've seen so far this seen. He does have a non-stop motor and has been making some plays.

I found his 40 time interesting. He's listed at 280 now, I wonder if he still has the same quickness...

I talked a lot of sh*t about this guy earlier in the season, but he has really been playing well lately.

...I did too.

....and I agree, he has shut me up lately. Blindsite was right, it took time for him to get back into the flow at DE. He has been exceptional.

As a closet Raider fan I thought he was worthless the only thing he was known for was kneeing Jeremey Stephens in the nuts, people didn't realize the rematch was on MNF but damn he was awesome that first drive.

I'm sorry... but I still think that was funny. He handled him like a rag doll

He's 1.5 sacks away from matching his CAREER total of sacks before come'n to the Panthers.

He has 2.5 in '03 and the same in '04 then 1 in '05... none in '06-'07. that's 6 total.

He's got 4.5 sacks this season.

This is technically his best season career wise.

8 more tackles and he'll get the 2nd most of his career as well.

The most tackles in a season was his first with 61... He'd need to make 25 tackles to get that career high topped.. LOL and I know he's gotten better.. but no... not that much better. LOL

    • This.  He knows where the seam is about to open, cuts, and accelerates hard. He’s slippery and tacklers always seem to be taking awkward angles to get to him. No dancing. Runs low and powerful. Almost never goes backwards for a loss. We’ve rarely had the guy who bounces off of tacklers. It’s nice seeing another one.
    • I can't speak for others but yes I read it. The conclusions are based heavily around the use of the statistical metric DYAR created by football outsiders and used by ESPN for this article. It only includes players whose production began in 2000. But excluding HOF running backs who produced BIG in an iteration of the NFL that was not yet catered to making things much easier for offenses in order for them to prop up more recent candidates is rather absurd and seems like just playing favorites regardless of where one might fall on their opinion of the use of the metric in question.
    • Same thing I first thought but then I saw it was against Jacksonville and took about half a second of playing to know. I was at that game.  I can't tell you my level of excitement when I saw it was Delhomme instead of Peete who came out for the 2nd half. Delhomme has and will probably always be my favorite Panther.
