Blue chip players

Atlanta 2? Julio, Roddy is still dangerous, Matt Ryan is still arguably top 10, Weatherspoon is more than solid, Trufant had a great rookie year as did Alford.

Tampa 3? Doug Martin, V Jax, McCoy, Verner, David, Barron and/or Dashon Goldson, Nicks when healthy which may never happen again.

Packers 5? Rodgers, Cobb, Lacy, Jordy Nelson, Matthews, Tramon Williams...maybe. 5 seems reasonable but they have some good young players on defense including Perry and Jones.

New England 4? Tom Brady, Mayo, Revis, Chandler Jones, Mankins, Gostkowski, McCourty, Vereen, Gronk, Wilfork because he is still on the roster and Browner was just brought in.

ATL: Do you consider White a top 10 wr? Weatherspoon a top 10 OLB? Certainly you don't consider Trufant a top 10 corner. Matt and Julio.

TB: Doug Martin didn't even play last year, and has had one solid year, hardly can consider him a top 10 rb in the league. VJax, David, and Mccoy were my blue chips, I forgot they had signed Verner, I would go ahead and throw him in the mix. Goldson/Barron neither are very good...so...no?

GB: Again, please not a blue chip player is someone who is top 10 at their position. If you would like to contend Cobb/Perry/T.Williams as a top 10 positional player in this league, please, entertain me.

NE: Mayo has dropped down, and is no longer a top 10 ILB, Jones is not a top 10 DE, Mankins was mediocre last year, Vereen is not a top 10 rb, McCourty is not a top 10 anything, Wilfork is going to be cut. Kickers cannot be blue chip players.

Cam, Olsen, Kalil, Kraken, CJ, Luke...? TD? Star?

I totally spaced on Olsen honestly.

Cam

CJ

Hardy

Kuechly

Davis

Kalil

Olsen

Star

I am not sure I would add Tolbert, as I am not sure a kicker/punter/fullback could be thrown in the coversation, but hey, count him if you want.

while you can argue the guys he mentioned aren't necessarily blue chip, it still shows that they don't have a drop off like we do.  We still have plenty of time to address our needs though and I agree we should still be fine. I'll take blue chip DE's and LB's over blue chip secondary guys any day. Can't patch together a good D-Line.

It gets foggy when considering who is and who isn't top 10 at their position. Every fan base is going to look at those lists differently and judge differently. It's the nature of the beast of 'rankings.' All of those players I listed have the ability to play like a top 10 player at their positions on any given Sunday. If you asked all 32 fan-bases to list the top 10 of each position do you really believe 8 or 9 Panthers would be on those 22 lists? Fans in general just have such short memories and are going to listen to whatever the media says. Name recognition and homerism plays a big roll too. I can see maybe 5 making the cut when its all averaged out and tallied. Cam, Luke, Kalil, Hardy, and TD.

Trufant will be a top 10 corner very soon if he isn't already. He played great last season for a rookie corner. How can you not consider Doug Martin top 10? He tore the league up his rookie season and will be a thorn in our sides for a long time. I think he's top 10 quite easily and will prove it this season. Cobb is a top-10 playmaker. Mayo will definitely regain his top 10 status this season. He was out last season so it's easy to forget how good he is when on the field.

Technically, we could have 11, all on defense, and miss the Playoffs. Your numbers don't mean a thing.

We have just 2 on offense. Two. Kalil and Cam. Double Trouble are friggin' done. Olsen isn't blue chip.

Luckily, there are still some solid guys we can grab to help the offense, no blue chippers though.
