The only thing holding the Texans back from being true Super Bowl contenders is Davis Mills. If something happens to CJ, they're screwed. If only both teams had the miracle man himself, Aidan O'Connell. Put your smart money on the Raiders folks! They've got a competitive QB room unlike the Texans and Panthers.

My take on this is basically this: why give up a quality player for the NFL equivalent of a half-empty bag of peanuts and a $1 scratch-off ticket? An aging player, yes. In a contract year? Yes. But still a quality player that can help us win. If they come with a serious offer that provides good value for us then it should be considered, but 5th and 6th rounders are cut every day. Even 4th rounders are coin-flips most of the time. Now, if we get closer to the trade deadline and are floundering and have little to no shot at the playoffs, then you have to consider even a lowball offer at that point, if for no other reason than giving a respected veteran player a chance to play meaningful football in what could be his last year. But right now? Teams that trade away starting WRs a week before opening day for crumbs aren't serious about competing, let alone winning. We traded Christian McCaffrey for below market value; we were forced to trade Brian Burns for less than market value because Fitterer threw any leverage we had out the window when he turned down the Rams insane offer and then failed to get an extension done. This after we traded away D.J. Moore as part of the Bryce Young trade instead of Burns, who we'd end up trading for just a 2nd rounder anyway. We've seen way too many talented starters traded away by this team over the last several years. Is Adam Thielen in the same category as McCaffrey, Burns and Moore? Obviously no, based on his age alone. But he's a good and dependable player who has been penciled in as a starting WR all offseason and if nothing else is a very good slot receiver. Why give a player like that up for a late-round pick that will most likely end up being used a player who will end up being a backup at best? Not only does it send a horrible message to the locker room, but it sends a message to the rest of the league: we'll trade our starters for peanuts. Give us your worst offer!

I am of the opinion that we keep all 4. If not, Mitchell has outplayed Evans, IMO. Evans has a good chance of clearing waivers.

It’s a list for the coming season.

Doesn't help the guy cheering you on in this is the same one that just goes around pooing posts in anger like an angst filled teenager. Appreciate the convos kungfoodude.

The fact that Darnold and Mayfield left us and played well for their next teams is just a kick in the balls for how our organization was being run.
-
Sad truth is Scott Fitterer put forth significantly more effort with this QB room. And he was a complete trashcan.

I completely reject this "aw shucks it sucks but what could we have done" narrative. Our FO could have not continued to treat our first overall pick like a delicate newborn and firmly explain to him that there will be new life in the QB room going forward for the good of the TEAM and it will make they and him better in the long run and drive him to step up his game. How is any of that a bad thing? Your fellow fans aren't the enemies here bub. The FO and ownership set this in motion and if you are tired of hearing about it you should talk to them. Nobody needs permission to discuss these issues.

I'm curious to see what they do with the TE room. Tremble/Sanders seem like locks, but then who makes it between Evans/Mitchell? I went back and watched all of Evans' snaps from the preseason and he did not look good imo. I thought that he looked slow, didn't block as well as you'd hope a Notre Dame TE to, and didn't look like he was providing much to the passing game. James Mitchell looked better blocking (though Okwara did march him back vs. CLE) and catching.

None of our folks are making a top 100 list until both they individually, and we as a team, prove that we are worthy of consideration outside of an area bounded by Gaffney and Asheboro. You don't get accolades with losing records year after year. And not just slightly losing records but bottom quarter of the league losing records. Sometimes the worst of the league. Ask anyone who cheers for a pro team in Ohio how it feels. They have decades of that. Well, unless you count Ohio State. They're pro, right?

Level Of Enthusiasm Going into Game 1
kungfoodude replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah, even if the Panthers and Hornets bolted, I would still watch those sports. I still enjoy the atmosphere, banter, etc. -
If he comes here he'll have to change his name to Forrest Inferno.

I mean, no one in recent memory has put more effort towards QB than us. poo, look at the price we paid for Bryce, look at the revolving door at QB since Cam left. What you are bitching about has nothing to do with effort, it has to do with results. Well.....welcome to the party. Aren't we all pretty perturbed about that?

I have simply learned to embrace the entertainment in a poorly run org. I either want my team to be good enough for postseason play and that makes folks believe they can make some noise/upset anyone......OR comically bad. I'm talking big picture. Both are entertaining. And I just like to talk sports more than anything. I think the best Charlotte team to follow is Charlotte FC. I mean, even right now....with injuries, trades, etc. They SHOULD be down but they are on a 7 game win streak (hard in soccer) and are real close to locking up a legit playoff spot. I think once Dabo leaves Clemson I will have no real attachment to any sports team. Talking sports is still a healthier hobby than so many other things out there and passes the the day quick while working and waiting around at my kids billion practices.

If you want developmental, that's what the NFL Draft is for. Not dumpster diving for 6th string QB's that aren't worthy of much more than a PS look. The time to "upgrade" in terms of backup QB(of which you will have a hard time doing so over Dalton) was free agency and it comes at a cost. Also, most of those guys are not rookies on cheap deals. That's why I don't understand all the whining. The die is set at QB, quite frankly, it's been set since we drafted Bryce. Until we figure that situation out, this is what we have to deal with. Pining over hopeless scrubs ain't gonna change that fact.

The fact that anyone with a shred of self respect would log on here and try to crack jokes about the Texans QB room to attempt to dunk on folks here asking for basic competency in the QB room is off the charts cringe. 3 playoff wins between Stroud and Mills but yeah the Panthers are definitely putting forth as much effort at the most important position.

I want this guy that the bears cut based on his name alone!
-
I saw the Jets cut TE Zach Kuntz. I wanted to draft this guy. A developmental player, but he could be a gem.

Level Of Enthusiasm Going into Game 1
scpanther22 replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
I've fallen out of love with sports in general. This could be because the panthers have been bad for so long or it could be the leagues have made it hard to really enjoy it without 1000 different services lol -
At this point if you're arguing against common sense on this issue just go ahead and put David Tepper's mug in your avatar and make it official. Tired of people lining up to cape for this incompetence.

I think most of my Panthers "anger" is pretty much mock at this point. It's basically just at the level of being annoyed. I do reserve some energy for teams I hate, still. -
Why do we keep circling back to this being about a savior? Nobody is asking for a franchise QB. We aren't looking for "the" answer. We're looking for someone younger with any level of potential that will give this young offensive roster the chance to develop in what is in all likelihood not going to be a winning season in the event Bryce Young goes backwards again. Nobody in this offense is going to develop one iota with Andy Dalton Jack Plummer or Bryce Perkins. This is about what is best for our young roster. We cannot afford to continue squandering these seasons of potential development if we ever want to establish a new core and begin making a playoff push at any point before 2030.

I think I only still get a little heated over NHL. The Panthers and Hornets have worn me down to the point of largely being apathetic.
