Evidently the Seahawks were interested in Howell in the draft and the guy on the staff primarily responsible for scouting him was their QB coach at the time... Dave Canales. Jags lead the NFL with 36 drops (many have been huge ones). That supporting cast has been really bad (and hurt) on the year. Trevor is just Trevor. A lab built QB that plays aggressive/dumb. He will have 5 seasons under his belt by years in with 3 different HCs.....and just 2 losing seasons. Trevor is a disappointment in terms of being a #1 overall pick. But he is middle of the road NFL starting QB.

Howell is an UFA in 2026 so it would not cost anything. For those who want to cut Dalton, that would be a 5.8M cap hit. They guaranteed 5.9M of Dalton's salary because they thought he was a good mentor for Bryce so the plan is obviously to keep them both in '26, which really means they plan to pick up the fifth year option in May. Adding a Sam Howell or third round draft pick in '26 makes sense even though it limits roster spots. Dalton is Bryce's security blanket.

It's not a wild theory. If Bryce is the guaranteed starter next year, regardless of what happens in camp, that's a mandate from either Dan or Tepper. You don't think that if DC or the players see that QB2 is seriously outplaying BY in camp, but BY is still the guaranteed starter, that won't affect things? You can't lead when it's clear you're not the one making the decisions. And if Dave is the one forcing BY to be the starter no matter what, it's still and issue because he needs more evaluation. At some point the evaluation has to stop, no more leadership councils, and just do what's best for the team. Let your best players play. How do you think history would have treated Bellichek if he had benched Brady after Bledsoe came back from injury? You have to do what's best for the team as a whole, not just one player.

I mean, I could explain it again. I didn't post a select group in reality, I compared all 12 starts from this season, to all 12 starts from last season. That is the legit head to head comparison. and when you do that, there is no improvement in his individual production. It's worse in yards, scores, and turnovers. So he did not improve if the argument is stats/individual production. when you look a the collective number on the year and then look at per game stats shown.....the fact he stepped on a field when benched for 3 plays at the end of a game and had -4 yards yards skews the per game stats. So you isolate the starts.

Why Sam Howell hasn't been given another chance to start on a team after putting up decent numbers on a bad commanders team running for his life (most sacked QB in the league in 2023) is beyond me, especially when you have the likes of Geno Smith, Bryce Young, JJ McCarthy, Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor, Trevor Lawrence, and Tua still being given a chance. In 2023: Passing yards (15th) Completion % (14th) Total TDs (12th) YPG (17th) QBR (24th) I think Sam Howell would absolutely kill it in Canales' system. Throw a late rounder the Eagles way and go get him. Still only 25 too. Low risk high reward.

We won. But why did we win? Did we win because Bryce led a commanding offense all day? Or, did we win because of 3 extremely well timed turnovers that resulted in a huge swing in points? Put up his best game statistically against them aided by 250 YAC. Wouldn't exactly call that a great team, even though they had the best passing D at that time. We beat GB. He was forgettable and the defense held GB to 13 points with 6 trips into the red zone We beat the Jets. Very good team? 13 points. Offensive juggernaut performance there Dallas and Miami - Rico does something not seen in the NFL in 14 years. 500 yards of offense by a RB. Our offense ran through him. More rushing yards than passing. Bryce was riding his coat tails against the 2 worst defenses in the NFL. 1st ATL win 30-0 - Again, forgettable Bryce performance. Defense destroyed Penix and he imploded. We won't agree on this at all. We've beaten the Rams with 3 key defensive turnovers resulting in a huge point swing on Stafford's worst performance of the year and GB with our defense making huge defensive stands in the red zone in really bad weather. Nothing he's done I wouldn't expect from a mid level starting QB in the NFL. But remember. The highs got higher last year and then he went swimming in the sewer to start this year. Insert another mid tier QB behind this line with our RBs and our record is the same if not better.

I think any reasonable non bryce stan can see this. The qb room has to be upgraded massively in the offseason

if we pick up the 5th we are stuck with BY for 2 more years same as the Jags albeit a pricier one but you can get out in 2 years. Thats why a swap would work. Change of scenery for both guys

Running game is good. Receivers are looking great with their development. Offensive playcalling has been good. Pass pro is average and improving. The weakest and most inconsistent part of the offense is the QB. 5th year option sounds like a definite way to maintain that weak link. Just let Canales choose his own QB room. He's done wonders with the receivers even when ownership wanted to hang on to Marshall and Mingo while unloading Moore

I don't know what you are talking about. All I am comparing are 2024 numbers to 2025 numbers straight from the sheet. Every stat, every game. I am not being selective. You posted a select group of stats from 2024 vs 2025. I posted the full stats from 2024 vs 2025. Personally I could care less about 2023 at this point. Kirk Cousins had a fanatastic year in 2023 but would you want him today - no you wouldn't. Rating a QB today based upon his performance from almost three years ago is foolish.
