  1. Past hour
  2. I would caution that it is highly unlikely BC will play in 2026 after that torn Achilles. If he does, he will miss a significant portion of the season. So we do need to attempt to replace him in some way. For some reason we just refuse to address critical positions for years on end. It's a franchise trait.
  3. I agree with him on the "explosive player" focus. I am never going to say that I wouldn't want to add such a guy but I do think Canales offense is specifically tailored to limit explosive players from being effective. Also, same poo a lot of us have been saying for a while about Evero. His scheme has limitations when it lacks elite or at least near elite players. It doesn't disguise or attempt to get the best out of what you have on the roster, it's just going out and running his defense and hoping that some of these misfits work out more often than not. Hence why it is so easy to pick on the LB Corps and Nick Scott so frequently. Evero and Canales need more talent to work with, I think we all know that. They also will be a limiting factor when that talent is there. That's the bigger issue.
  4. Burns quit on this team, was a liability against the run, and even the one thing he did well (pass rushing) he only had 1 double digit sack season. He wanted way more money than his PLAY was worth. It really doesn’t matter what he is doing now, the only mistake was not trading him when the Rams offered. Even if one time a guy like Burns goes to another team (with 2 other top 5 pick pass rushers and Dexter Lawrence, mind you) and does what he SHOULD have been doing here all along to earn the contract he was demanding, it’s bad business in the long run over many players to pay those guys when they haven’t earned it yet (Jaycee Horn is unfortunately looking like a prime example).
  5. And FWIW, Mike Kaye Listed Devin Lloyd under possible Free Agents https://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nfl/carolina-panthers/article313976800.html
  6. Safety (particularly in coverage) has been a weak spot for the Panthers throughout their history. The only plus pair of starters we've ever put on the field was Minter/Grant.
  7. OK, i am thinking from this perspective: Evero is going to be here and we are going to run the same defense. I am also taking into consideration that it is likely that we have to draft an OT in round 1, an ILB, a S, and maybe an edge*, TE, and WR. etc. So focusing on the D, we need starting help at Edge and S. Forget scheme. forget Evero for now (if you can). Here is where my brain is right now, Jan 17, 2026: Re-sign the core OL depth--they should be fairly cheap. Mays, Nijman, and Christensen--and maybe even Curhan. With the OL a lot can be said about consistency and familiarity. Bring in a LT through the draft. That should leave a good bit of money for 2 free agents that would help this defense more than most moves, in my opinion--Edge and a S. My favorite edge who might be in free agency: Jaelen Phillips of the cap-strapped Eagles. Pay the man. He is 26, 6’5” and 260. Holds the edge (30+ tackles) and gets pressure (5 sacks but was 9th in the NFL with 73 pressures). I am guessing he will draw top dollar interest, but if Morgan wants to get better, this is where it will happen. (I am guessing $85m over 3 years–the money we would have given a healthy Ickey, sadly.) Frankly, I might offer him $110m for 4 years. With Phillips and Scourton starting with Jones II and Princely (developing) behind them--edge don't look so bad if you allow for youth development. (Remember, DEs not drafted here in the first rounds took a bit of time (Mike Rucker, Charles Johnson, Greg Hardy--they all needed one-three years). I would like to see the Panthers sign S Justin Simmons. He is 30 or so, but playing at a high level and will probably not be back in Atlanta. He seems to fit a need and would allow us to draft a developmental FS type. Ransom and Moehrig can play the other S spot, with Simmons filling in as needed. I am guessing that he might sign a 2-year deal for $20m if most is guaranteed. If we could do that, we could focus on LT and ILB in the draft. Just how I see it now. *we drafted 2 in 2025. they need time to develop. We still have Jones. A veteran stud is what we need, not another long-term project (any edge taken after round 1). So hear me out. Listen. Are you listening?
  8. Honestly it might be simply because they're likely to keep it conservative on offense. Feels like the only way they lose to this banged up Niners team is to beat themselves.
  9. Nah, it's really about some people trying to downplay Burns and Lloyd. All thatcs stated pretty clearly. There are lots of different perspectives, and I am not one to complain about the tentacles of a thread growing and spreading out where they may.
  10. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11806464/ Read through this entire thing and it is about as grim as it gets. QT = Quadriceps Tendon PT = Patellar Tendon RTP = Return To Play Highly encourage everyone to slog your way through the entire thing, it is worthwhile but I definitely came away thinking we need to be serious about a long term solution at LT.
  11. You should absolutely trade any home grown, pro bowl talent for 2 firsts and a second. Everything after that disastrous mistake was inevitability. Also extremely glad not to be paying Brian Burns. He would not be producing in this defense and we would all be furious about it.
  12. Darnold not playing will be a net positive for the Seahawks. Not being flippant.
  13. I will say "not yet." I have qualms regarding his independence from ownership and also involvement with past FO mistakes under Rhule/Fitterer. To that note, his first draft in 2024 looked like a carbon copy of a Fitterer draft. An absolute disaster. The 2025 offseason was a mixed bag but the draft looks good early. I need to see better and better offseason results in 2026, 2027, etc.
  14. Yeah but it’s a thread ostensibly about Brian burns doing well as a justification to sign a different guy. Kinda clashes ya know? Comes across as a little pissy just saying you could have workshopped the structure more to clarify the topic and streamline the thought process and that service is the kind of thing im hopeful my posting consulting service will provide. we’re still in fundraising mode and my DMs are open if anyone wants to get on the ground floor of this. Also accepting resumes.
  15. You obviously didn't hit the link. I am quoting Bucky Brooks, as I stated.
  16. I mean, I guess I can see why you're saying what you're saying, but it's not that smoking gun that I was looking for. I mean, what do we expect the assistant to say? I'm sure that he wanted to keep his job. The guy that didn't keep his mouth shut got fired. I will admit that it's not a good look. The thing is though, everyone makes bad calls. If Morgan was against the trade, it was a bad call in my opinion, but on the other hand he probably wanted to keep Burns and work out a deal.
  17. I got: Bills over Broncos. I think it will be close but Sean Payton notoriously chokes in the playoffs and I don’t think anyone wants to play Josh Allen. 24-21 Seahawks over 49ers. I think it’s close and Darnold is likely injured but the defense wins it. 20-17 Texans over Patriots. Patriots had one of if not the easiest schedule this year. They struggled with LAs defense which is nowhere near what Houston has. Probably low scoring. 17-13 Bears over Rams: Rams think our home field advantage is bad. They are about to play in Chicago, with single digit temperatures, high wind, and flurries. 30-21
  18. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5334576/2024/03/11/carolina-panthers-brian-burns-defense/ Morgan was second in command behind Scott Fitterer in 2022 when the Panthers rejected the Rams’ offer just days after trading All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey to the San Francisco 49ers. The lone dissenting voice was former salary cap and contracts executive Samir Suleiman, who believed the Panthers should take the picks for Burns, according to three sources familiar with the discussions. Again I ask, who got fired?
  19. You gotta give me a link or something. Plenty of stuff that's "reported" turns out to be more speculation than substantiation.
  20. Maye has to run. The Texans, though the best overall defense, were dead last against scrambling QBs.
  21. It was reported he wanted to keep Burns and turn the trade down. The one guy that wanted the trade was Samir Suleiman. Guess who was fired?
  22. Today
  23. If he lands a HC job he will like take Cooley as DC. (Would be 3 3rd round picks btw). I imagine we would promote Wash or hire Raheem Morris due to familiarity with the system. Evero would need a OC though. Wonder about Zac Robinson since they know each other from LA
