Panthers just need to sign whoever linebackers the Ravens, Eagles, Steelers, and Texans cut because they are likely all better than whatever we have behind Wallace and Rozeboom who should both be depth pieces anyway
-
Waived go to waivers and can be claimed, released you are free agent and can choose where to go. Think 4 years in the NFL is the cutoff

Steelers waived K Ben Sauls. R.I.P. to the Ben Sauls trade candidate era, which lasted about 50 minutes. Pittsburgh also waived DL Kyler Baugh, LB Mark Robinson, LB Julius Welschof, DB D’Shawn Jamison, DB Daryl Porter, OL Steve Jones, OL Aiden Williams, TE JJ Galbreath, RB Lew Nichols, WR Max Hurleman and WR Lance McCutcheon.

What is the difference between waived and released?

I'd lean more towards Todd Bowles and the Bucs GM. Baker always had the phsyical tools. It was his mouth and his ego that got him into trouble. But Bowles like DeMeco Ryans for Stroud in Houston is the common thread. When you have the right head coach you can remove and replace coaches and keep chugging along. We need to see Canales emerge as that type of presence this season.

Right move on the kicker. If it goes south there are several Matthew wrights that can be picked up

It seems that Baker Mayfield is a king maker lately. Dude's are getting lucrative jobs off his performance. Didn't we cut some QB named Baker Mayfield a few years ago? -

...nor should they. Cuts form other teams have more name recognition than theses guys do. Not only will these guys not make our PS, probably nobody else's either. -
Matt Rhule had no clue how to develop a QB let's be real. And at this point it remains to be seen if Dave Canales is worthy of his QB whisperer reputation.

He got beat out by Bridgewater who was literally signed off the streets from coaching HS football last year and Kyle Allen this year. I hope there’s better options out there

This initial cut is important - it signals the team has very little interest in bring back any of these players to the practice squad -
That worked out so well during the Rhule/Fitterer era

I've shown you numerous comps for other tackles in the same age and talent range. His contract, taking into account his age, health, etc. is the going rate. It's a fair deal. I've shown you examples of how long it usually takes to find even an average replacement. Hell, look at every tackle that has ever started for the Panthers. How many would you consider a success? They are not easy to find. After everything we've done with this team since drafting Bryce why would we decide to let our best linemen go and add a huge question mark at tackle? FA is a crapshoot in which any guy available will have cons/issues. If not, they'll cost a fortune. Outside of a first or maybe 2nd round pic next year it'll take a few years for a tackle to learn the position at the NFL level. There are still questions about Icky. Every vet NFL player deals with maintenance. Between the contract value and history I'm not overly worried about his knee. I contend his knee issue isn't anything to be overly worried about. It's not zero risk but it's an acceptable risk. Every player we draft and every contract we sign has risk. You're blowing up his own negative words about his knees and ignoring him saying he is healthy and the knee is a non issue. You have a strong chicken little complex with this team. Being he has always been a Panther they are very aware of any health issues. We paid now because now is cheaper. If his knee was really an issue they would have waited. That tells me it's not the issue you want it to be.

The only mildly surprising cut is Jacoby Windmon, solid young special teams player. This would suggest that Krys Barnes will make the 53 -

Not a bad way to make 1/4 million bucker-oos. -
I imagine they saw all they needed to in practice.

Moore and Horn are not locks, nor should they be. -
Hendon Hooker released. Possible back up if Dalton goes down.
-
Wanted to draft him on day 3 in April, but instead we took a DT and TE.

If we are really keeping as many WRs on the roster as people expect we can only afford to have 2 QBs on the roster.
