My feelings about trading Thielen never had anything to do with Bryce, it was always 100% about having Thielen around to mentor the young WRs. Right now, our Top 4 WRs are all 1st or 2nd year players and so is our 6th. That's so dumb, you needed someone like Thielen in there to help mentor the room, we really need to bring in a seasoned vet who is a "pro's pro" type of guy (or just bring back Renfrow, as again, it's not about on the field for me, it's about off).
-
welp, he can go fug himself at this point
-
Good for those kids. They probably have some close friends they had to leave. There’s the dad in me coming out lol
-
Then you don’t trade him. Trades don’t have to happen. this feels like a hit of dopamine for the people who think we care about reading their mock draft and BIG BOARD but come draft night it will be another player you’ve never heard of whose competing for a depth spot.
-
Because he is old and close to retirement and wants to play at home???
-
why would he want out after we gave him a raise to come back. Its probably me but something is missing in all this

So we get the #1 pick in the 4th round and give them the #32 pick in the 5th round…LFG!
-
The #Panthers weren’t just going to give Adam Thielen away. They were going to do right by him and trade him to the #Vikings only IF a deal made sense. A big reason they were comfortable making the move: they love WR Jalen Coker. Remember the name. https://x.com/mysportsupdate/status/1960702367860437048?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA

Your avatar, sir.

If he wanted out, then there was nothing the team could do, it sucks trading your best wr and valuable piece for Bryce’s development. I just don’t see how this is a good thing.
-
yeah but why, they kicked him to the curb a couple of years ago and he could retire there in Jan.
-
He does. Bryce isn't his QB and he was given permission to bench him last year. This year is money for him and the coaching staff as long as the defense takes a step forward. If Bryce doesn't work out, he'll get to pick his QB and have a couple years to make it work.

This was not an easy deal for Carolina to do. Panthers valued Adam Thielen's third-down savvy, so they asked for a lot in return initially, which stalled the deal a bit. But Carolina might still be a year away from full contention mode, so getting draft capital helps. https://x.com/jfowlerespn/status/1960704820383306053?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA

the cap is irrelevant now unless we roll it over, something that we dont do much of, still waiting for that big signing or big trade that posters on here swore was coming after the moton deal
-
We got strong armed and bamboozled. Convinced the guy to come back for one more ride and he pulled a gun out and demanded a trade to Minnesota right before week 1.
-
Look at his wife's Instagram... He's excited to be going back.
-
Did the Panthers get enough for Adam Thielen? He's 35 and in an expiring contract. It was a decent return, especially if training camp/preseason was any indication of his role in the offense this year. Just seemed like he was being de-emphasized. https://x.com/josephperson/status/1960703635542651228?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA

it makes perfect sense if at and his wife wanted out, which is pretty clear now that is case
-
Getting a fourth round pick and saving $7M is salary cap is more than fair for a 35 year old WR in his last year. This is really good compensation and a great job by Dan and team.
-
Basically the #52 pick.
-
Sink or swim time for Bryce. They want to know what they've got and now they'll know. Canales has plenty of leeway and is safe for a few more seasons.
-
Albert Breer This is a pretty heavy price for the Vikings to pay. But they initiated the talks, and had to get the Panthers on board. https://x.com/albertbreer/status/1960709218782044313?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA

It stings for Bryce in 2025, but does make sense for the long term plan for this team. I think we bring in another WR (Palmer, Renfrow, Corley, etc) and really AT shouldn’t be relied upon for more than a WR3 or WR4 security blanket for any team. I also think this is Dan doing a solid for a vet that wants to retire in Minny. A 4th is about fair value for what AT meant for this team in 2026 and beyond. I loved Thielen’s vet presence but I think our blueprint is setting up for 2026 to be the year we talk serious playoff run and he was not a part of that run.
