  1. Past hour
  2. ah yes I was convinced he was going to be something lol
  3. It is very possible for people to grow and become better at their jobs overtime
  4. I am not sure what the statistics are for 2nd rounders, much like Google "AI", as I would have to do actual research that it doesn't. The 3.3ish years average NFL career has held fairly true, IIRC. I know there is a site that still tracks that data. There was a very good and thorough look at success rates by round(I think it was based on games played or started) I read a few years ago and after the 3rd round the success rates dropped off precipitously. I will see if I can dig that up in the near future.
  5. Well the team is always going to say such things. We will see this year. If he has really dedicated himself to football, the results should show themselves on the field. If they don't and he starts to get pushed down the depth chart, I think the writing is basically on the wall It's hyperbolic to say it's a critical year but if it's more of the same after year two, I am just not sure there is really any more to see.
  6. Today
  7. I never judge a receiver on his first year. Enjoy that foolish feat.
  8. I don't see Horn beating out Coker. Coker was the 2nd best receiver last year behind Adam Thielen. Time and Time again he made the catch that XL couldn't.
  9. Maybe they have had faith in Demani Richardson for a while now. Hence why we never signed Blackmon or Simmons. Let’s hope he keeps it going. We sure need help that FS position.
  10. Fits the mold of downhill thumper. You want to ideally have a guy that doesn’t get washed out vs the run and the other guy to have range vs the run and pass for your setup at ILB. We’ve had neither for some time.
  11. He needs to stop being such a nice guy this year. I’d rather him be a little crazy like so much WR’s are. He comes across as timid and unsure of himself in his interviews.
  12. I think what hurt Thompkins was he wasn't good enough on special teams to warrant a full time roster spot. Horns only realistic shot is there as well. But he may just unseat Coker as wr4 the way hes playing, if Renfrow hasn't beat him to it already.
  13. XL will be our best 2 since Moose. Not worried. Can't wait for Sundays.
  14. His only shot right now is on special teams. If he makes the roster it will be there. Where he goes from there is up to him.
  15. Yeah, but by basically all accounts by those that matter, he's been working hard. I'm not gonna hate on him for having fun along the way as long as that's the case. Moreover, Jaycee came in with an advantage over most: he grew up in the NFL (so to speak). Of course he came in with an elite mentality. Now I'm not suggesting that some players don't, but mentality, especially, evolves with maturity, and many of us have been watching football long enough (and lived long enough) to know that maturity, growth and evolution isn't a cookie cutter type of proposition.
  16. Everything hurts and/or is sunburned, but lil dude had a good time and that's all that matters. Also, confirmed the Gemini summary of Icky's PFF grades
  17. The NFL is really not-for-long in most cases. Hell, as I've mentioned before, even second rounders have a 49 percent chance of being on the street, according to Google AI, after four years.
  18. I would love for things to be different, but we can't help but see it. I have already been more impressed with how TMac carries himself. It seems he would rather just be a star without putting the work in. Maybe he can be, but I doubt it will be on the field.
  19. Hey, at least your opinion is honest and insightful. I would've never thought about the comparison as critically as you have hadn't you posted it.
  20. Where are all the, uh, "USC" fans at? I know its South Carolina, but I've seen their fans in here on the regular. What do y'all have to say? That's really why I started the thread: for the perspective of someone who is really familiar with the kid.
  21. I may be reading too much into this, but the comments from Canales about Horn don't really indicate good news. He compares him to Deven Thompkins, whom he said he loves, and Thompkins had a really good camp last year and was creating separation and making plays just about every day. But Thompkins was cut. And when we did bring him back, it wasn't for any real meaningful snaps. And then we cut him again. That's not a guy I would want to be compared to. Granted, we did draft Horn, and Horn isn't Thompkins, but Canales praised Horn as a guy that made other guys better, not as a guy that was playing well. And I think there is a clear difference. Just trying to see through the coach speak.
  22. Yeah, I expected some hate, notwithstanding X essentially admitting his imperfections in so many words. At this point, unless X is a stud, there may be people that talk sh¡t about him regardless of how he improves on the field. I hope that's not the case. In many minds, expectations for X (and, perhaps, a timetable for success however that looks like) were probably unrealistic in the first place.
  23. We need someone to step up at FS. That was an obvious roster hole coming into camp. If Richardson can work out, we may have a pretty good S group.
  24. TBH, I think there are a LOT of red flags with his focus on being a social media brand rather than his focus on being a football player. The antithesis of this was definitely Jaycee Horn. I remember all of his rookie vids being working out with top CB's and the reports of him being a sponge for info from the vets. That's elite mentality. XL does not have that, hence why I am generally so negative about him.
  25. So few of the guys pan out after the 3rd round. I really never put too many eggs in those baskets, minus some exceptions.
