  1. Past hour
  2. You have to draft OL every year. The position(s) is just too much of a meat grinder and teams rarely make it through a season playing all 5 starters as a single unit. The team started the season with 9 OL on the active roster. By the end of the season, we had listed 14 different OL on the roster. You can't just rely on FA to fill all those positions, especially when 17% of you roster is made up of OL. Of the 7 picks we get every year, the simple math dictates at least one at some point should be going to replenish the trenches.
  3. He is going to want more than that. And a simple glance around the league at other qb situations in regards to contracts should tell morgan and co that is not good for business
  4. If Morgan allows that to happen. I still have hope a Tua like situation can be averted. I think he already sort of crippled the roster. At least hobbled it. Look at the resources denied to the defense for two solid years.
  5. Its the pro football version of being hired by a tech firm in a consulting/advisory role. You get a cushy compensation packages to show up late, eat free lunch, leave early, and take PTO. Then by the time people have figured out you do nothing, you move on to the next gig.
  6. Bryce's size is not as big an issue now as it will be when he demands $50m per year. Then you can't afford an OL that makes $100m and WRs with $20m+ contracts. Not when you consider the Brown and Horn contracts on defense--before you pay your edge rushers....Da maff ain't gonna add up. That is how having a Hobbit at QB is going to cripple the roster.
  7. That’s a stretch. A winning record and not backing into the playoffs ranks much higher than what our outcome actually was. At least for me. And I am pretty sure I am one of those people you are referring to. The holes were poked by the team’s shortcomings, no one here had a hand in that. Noticing them, is just seeing things for what they are. I didn’t expect us to be in the playoffs or even sniff them last year. We over achieved just to do that but also we showed what we were not, down the stretch. Us doing so well against the Rams’ defense two times and so poorly against other teams told me Seattle was going to beat them in the playoffs. They had obvious weaknesses. Speaking of, glad we could finally exploit someone’s weaknesses in the passing game. Those two Rams games were really entertaining games, both the win and the loss. Watch what the Rams do in the offseason, bet they will address it.
  8. Yeah I think the jobs are more consulting type of work, and probably have very little pressure to grind like a normal coach. I really was not inclined to like Caldwell because the offense was such a train wreck in his first year. I just always thought he may have had a lot of say in the way that offensive staff got put together. Which I saw as a fail, I especially did not get the Thomas Brown OC deal. Then add the backstabbing type of stuff rumored to be going on behind the scenes. It would be nice if we had some clarity on that but we are not gonna get it.
  9. Here's the thing; the Panthers were the better team against TB. The officiating in that game was historically awful toward only one team. If the Panthers win that game, though, the Saints-Falcons tilt means nothing and it gets fewer eyeballs. Also, if the Panthers win that game, I'm gonna predict "Yeah 9-8, nothing to be proud of" would be the motto around here. There's plenty of negativity. Poking holes in a playoff season, something that comes once per decade or so around here, seems to be an unhealthy exercise.
  10. The question becomes. Can the team do better at Ickey at LT i believe the answer is yes a d sadly the injury moves that along it will be bpa I’m sure but if there is a decent OT at 19, have to do it given how GA looks for them do I want a great Lb or Edge, yes but there is a little fella at qb
  11. Exactly, we couldn’t beat a sorry last place team even once, with the division as the prize. I will give Bryce the Wild Card game but we went 1-3 and were only rescued by a very improbable tie breaker. If Atlanta had not got to 8-9 TB had the tie breaker on us too. That is obscured for a lot of people by the technicality of winning the division and a good effort in the Wild Card game. Personally I don’t think overlooking it helps people see an accurate picture of what the future might hold. IOW it wasn’t the flex a lot of people think it was.
  12. Today
  13. This. Some of these lifers just legitimately love ball and as long as they can continue getting roles that keeps them involved in the game at some level but doesn't require the insane commitment level of actually coaching, why not? I have to imagine a lot of these advisor roles are basically the equivalent of posting our opinions on the Huddle but actually getting paid for it. Sounds like a sweet gig to me. LOL
  14. Never said it was, friend. But it's a team game. Remember QB wins not being a real stat?
  15. It is really disheartening to see people take their QBs the last couple of years and have them do so much better than we have with ours. And a second rounder, in his second game, beats us on our field? And looks really good doing it. Then comes back and beats us a second time in a must win game for us. That was major salt in the wound.
  16. He and Caldwell seem like wasted hires. But good luck to him I guess.
  17. I don’t generally research these guys very hard anymore but I have seen some mocks where he would be long gone by 19. I think I saw people saying he was a very stout run defender, and would likely pick up a few sacks. No big numbers.
  18. I mean, it is pretty bad for Icky and we may still not be able to fix it. But yeah we could have the same problems with worse timing and it would be a lot harder on us. Another thing it does, if we had extended him that 15 or 16 million dollar cap hit from his 5th year option would then be in play to be reduced and now it can’t be. Even though I saw someone suggest they extend him anyway, that would be very irresponsible unless he somehow comes back and plays well this season. It looks like we will have to deal with his big money hit this year, but yeah we have $ flexibility on another signing that we didn’t have before.
  19. Please enlighten why it's a good thing that our now 4th year QB got swept and outplayed by a rookie 2nd round pick bud.
  20. I think a T is a must. I read that they were going to let Nijman and Mays test the market--bold move--unless they feel good about the draft pool. An OT who can hold it down as well as Nijman, who could play RT in the future (or allow Ickey to move to RT, etc). I think this is a good draft at OT (I have read some who disagree) and C. Wonder if we go Edge (a third down speed rusher) and LB in free agency and draft OT, C, WR, and S? Man.
