Look. The front office did their homework on these guys. I believe that Proehl has his input and between Gettleman and Proehl if they think he is worth this pick. I am all for it. So many criers over Gettleman and his picks. Our team has taken a turn upwards because of the drafting and UDFA prowess of Gettleman. Funchess said he was tired from the interviews during the combine. He ran better at his pro day. We'll be fine.

Round 1 - Carolina Panthers Select Shaq Thompson
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Boykins and Ginn give us the opportunity to take the best football player. Especially Boykins, I think this a good pick up for us and is as good as any rookie that was still on the board. If White or Cooper were still available and we picked Shaq I might agree with you. This class of WR is very deep. There are many WRs still available as well as OT. -

Perfect explanation. I was OK with the pick before reading this and now I am more satisfied. You have to be able to stop the NE, N.O and GB type of offenses. -

I gotta ask. Didn't any of you listen to Gettleman over the last 4 months? He said he wasn't going to reach. We addressed all our needs in Free Agency. While they may not be the most popular FA they gave Gettleman the opportunity to take the best football player available. It amazes me that when the pick comes in you all still bitch like babies cause you didn't get who you think we should have drafted. Gettleman has a great track record in the draft so to be honest. I would take his opinion over all this whining. Though players don't have a say in who we draft, when TD says this guy is better than he was when he came into the league tells me we have a solid player. Plus the guy could fill an emergency role at running back if we had a slew of injuries at RB. -
By the time we pick this looks awful good. lol

Panthers.com story about Dave Gettleman and drafting
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Galvatron's topic in Carolina Panthers
He didn't get any gigs before and that is a mystery as to why but, the Carolina Panthers have him and will be foolish to ever let him go. He is going to build us a super bowl winning team. He is worth every penny and more. Thank God he wears the Panther colors. -
One thing I like about this is that the writers that cover these teams make the choice. While some of them may be lousy and not have a clue about their respective team. I think most do. I haven't be sold on Devon Smith but I will be ok with it.

I spent 25 years in the Navy and trust me. Plenty of those men and women that fight wars were still immature and need growing up. Because you join the military it doesn't mean you are grown up.

You speak as if you know this for a fact? My guess is not which means you are guessing, opinionated nothing more. Word on the street? You have an inside track to other teams meetings. I seriously doubt it. While I agree the chances we pass on him are high and before I saw the piece on NFL Network I was certain we wouldn't. My point on the OP was I believe he is truly trying to change his image and start anew and we should do our due diligence to check him out. Most people are so hell bent on labeling a KID trouble because he made some juvenile mistakes. When he thrives with another team and becomes a star.... don't worry I won't say I told you so. YOU'LL KNOW IT.
