B. Daboll is doing a great job with Jones but it's his staff that's doing the work. He sets the tone of the team and gets his coordinators to implement his plan. Your head coach doesn't have to be a offensive mind to get the talent out of your offense.

Tank season back on: #2 Pick in the draft currently
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Varking's topic in Carolina Panthers
Actually, if you watch the play. He didn't streak straight down the field. He paused momentarily and then shot by the DBs. The DBs should have been deeper but it happens. You blame that they were backups as if starters wouldn't have made the same mistake. Purely assumption. 3 seasons of over 1000 yards especially considering our QB play, IMO makes him one of the top receivers in the game. (ie elite) He'll most likely pass 1000 yards this season or get damn close to it. Especially considering he didn't get his season started until Rhule was fired. -
Should we have been in on Roquan?
DaveThePanther2008 replied to ATLpanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
This right here is the reason why you say no. Baltimore is trying to keep up with KC and Buffalo to win the Super Bowl this season. They gave up quite a bit for a LBer that will play out the season and be asking for big bucks. They already have to worry about signing Lamar. We're not in the position to give up capital and also figure out a way to sign him and Burns. -
Foreman runs hard. He hits the hole, little or big and keeps churring. That has been the problem with our RB. They want to pitter patter until they see an opening and it never develops. He's legit and it's good we picked him up.

McDermott and Salah are defensive minded coaches. Who's to say you can have a young offensive minded coordinator? If he gets hired away, you bring up one of his assistances and go from there. The head coach is over both offense and defense. On game day he is overseeing the entire game. The offensive coordinator is calling the plays. IMO as long as you have a good OC you are ok. Buffalo is a prime example. McDermott is defensive yet has probably the most potent offenses in the NFL.

Hubbard missed yesterday's game but, he performed well against the hated Bucs. I believe he is our best alternate for Foreman. A pretty decent 1-2 punch.

I am not implying that we'll beat Cincinnati but Burrow is mobile but not as mobile as Mariota. Mariota snuck out of several sacks last night. I would not be surprised if we beat Cincinnati. They may be overlooking us.

It's hard to watch him in a SF uniform but Foreman is taking up the slack nicely and we got 4 picks out of it. Something we desperately needed. These are probably the same guys that want to trade everyone away for picks but when they do well with their new team, they post crazy poo like this.

@pantherj @Catsfan69 @JawnyBlaze @Brooklyn 3.0 @Fox007 @Camp Fodder @4Corners After 2 weeks Foreman has rushed over 100 yds in each game. Still think he's trash, too old, garbage? The guy is a beast. Here's a nice plate of crow.

Bring back Julius Peppers. He probably could still outjump most DBs and he's well into his 40's.

Who is to say that the next HC is going to change things? You're making a huge assumption that our next head coach, whoever you think, is going to automatically be the answer. Nailing a head coach like Billicheat, McDermott, Reid or Tomlin is a greater risk than nailing the top QB in a draft. You act as if changing from Wilks to someone else is a guarantee for success. There's an old say "Be careful of what you ask for" I like Wilks, I like the way he motivates and keeps our players in the game. Is he the answer, I don't know but, Hiring a new HC doesn't always mean it's the best move. For instance, I would have rather kept Rivera, with Fitterer as his GM, than Fhule. Rivera was hamstrung by Marty " I don't know how to draft after the 1st round" Hurney.
-
Those that say Wilks is like Rivera, can also say he's like McDermott. They come from the same tree. McDermott is 55-33 with playoff visits all but one year and looking like the most dangerous team in the NFL. McDermott is a motivator just like Wilks. You don't need an offensive minded head coach if he can't motivate. The key is getting the right coordinators. Good draft picks and good Free Agents. Rivera and Fox did a great job motivating their players. The problem was after Dan Henning left, we never seemed to have a good OC. I would like to see Wilks with a new OC. He's changed McAdoo around and we actually look like a competent offense. Imagine if he has someone that can work eye to eye with him. Bringing in an offensive minded head coach does not automatically make this team better. Replacing Wilks could put this team back even further than we want. Your head coach needs to be a motivator. You can be an offensive genius but if you can't motivate your team, you won't be a head coach for long.

I'm not saying he's bad QB, I just don't see anything that makes me feel he's going to make the transition to the NFL easily.

What’s your 2023 QB big board (including Corral)
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Wundrbread33's topic in Carolina Panthers
He was trailing but his RB had a great run and the defense gave him a short field AGAIN for a score that pretty much put Penn St. away. He had some nice throws including a over the shoulder pass that was right on the money outside of that most of them were wide open any QB could have made those completion. I really think it is going to come down to our scout team review of these QBs. Fitterer and Morgan are going to have to weed through the hype and see who the best of the group is. -
30 Oct 2005 Steve Smith wears out
DaveThePanther2008 replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yes, Culpepper was never the same after that. -
Sunday 30 October 2005, 17 years ago today. I can't believe it has been 17 years since this game occurred. It is at the top of my list along with the Steeler game in 96 as one of my favorites. I had the opportunity to be at this game. It was a beautiful day and a historic one for Steve Smith. I remember before the game Fred Smoot was talking a lot of trash. As we learned through the years, that's not a good thing to do to Agent 89. Plus, Minnesota had the party on the boat scandal which SS took advantage of.

Will Levis hype thread!
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
After what little I saw of his play yesterday if we selected him at all I would be shocked. -
Penn St. defense is giving Stroud all sorts of trouble. He gets real jittery under pressure. He's only lead OSU to one TD on a short field. Our #1 pick isn't looking so much like a #1. Hooker looked much better against Alabama. Here is his chance. 4th Quarter down by 5.

This is not going to happen until Brady starts owning up to some of the problems result from bad QB play. He missed several throws he used to make all the time. The announcers kept blaming it on timing with new players but short and midrange throws he's made for 20+ years and now he misses them. Brady wants to blame everyone other than himself. He is one of the greatest of all time but that doesn't give him the green card to blame everyone other than himself. Also Brady does not have his security blanket that he's had the majority of his career. Gronk. For most of his career Brady has had a TE that was at top tier TE. He doesn't have one now.

Tampa had Goodwin, Evans and Gage at WR and our DBs performed well without Horn. Our run defense which looked to be a weakness against Cleveland has turned out to be a strength. I believe PJ will move the ball enough to keep our defense off the field. If he can maintain at least an equal time of possession our defense will make moving the ball difficult. I don't think there will be a blowout. I believe Wilks has these guys believing they can beat anyone. If McAdoo has a decent game plan we should win this game. It will be a fun one to watch against our I-85 rival.
-
He might try. lol Double down and Wilks win Coach of the Year.
-
Win, Win, Win I want Wilks to turn this team around and get into the playoffs. Nothing would make me happier than to see this team make a run at the NFCS title. A great middle finger to Rhule when we do.

This is a good draft class but there isn't one in this class that I would say is a "Franchise QB". I don't think it is as long as a long shot as you believe. I guess we'll see.
