A true "mature football fan" is going to pull for his team to WIN every game that they play in, not hope they lose. A "mature football fan" knows our management is going to do everything they can to solve our QB problem. A "mature football fan" isn't going to hope we lose so we can "Possibly" get a quarterback that MIGHT be a franchise QB. Meaningless for you and the other Tankers out there. Last time I checked we were one game out of first place in our division where we are 3-1. Our division leader has two games they are most likely going to lose. Based on your mentality that once you have a losing record you tank for the highest draft pick you can get. We'll just tell Brian Burns that we are going to sit him for the rest of the season, to hell with your sack total. You can get more next season. We'll also tell DJ Moore we're going to sit him as well. Don't worry you can achieve 1000 yds receiving in 4 of your 5 seasons. We'll also tell Bozeman that we are going to sit him as well but would like for him to come back next year. Hopefully we won't have a losing record at midseason, and we won't have to sit him again.

100% We need an OC that can utilize our talent to the best we can. Our DC has done a great job minus the Cincinnati game. We nearly shut down L. Jackson and hopefully we'll continue our success against Seattle. 3-4 since the firing of Rhule and trading CMC should be a great indicator considering he kept McAdoo to at least give us a chance. Firing him now would not have helped get any wins. I am not fully onboard with the Rivera/Fox comparison. Let Wilks have a full season with an OC of his choice and then we can decide who to compare him with. Get a good OC and we might want to compare him to Salah in NYJ.

Seattle - That's the one thing about the NFL. It's a copycat league. Like Arizona last year. Once teams figured out how to beat you, it's all downhill from there. This is where I think Seattle is. Pittsburgh - They aren't the same team we are accustomed to seeing. Detroit - This is probably going to be our toughest opponent. They have a very legitimate offense. They can put up points and are playing much better defense than earlier in the season. They went toe to toe with Buffalo on Turkey Day. Tampa - This will be a tough game because it will be in TB. If we win this game we'll have the tie breaker over them if we somehow end up with the same record. New Orleans - They have a very good defense. They would love nothing more than to destroy our playoff hopes in the last week of the season. The defense is going to have to get us there and Darnold just needs not to screw it up.

Depends on the value of the QB that will be there at 6-12. We shouldn't reach for a QB that could fall to the 2nd round when there are other elite prospects on the board. I'd rather trade down, maybe pick up an additional 1st next year than to gamble on a QB. If, Big If, Darnold, plays well through the remainder of the season than we can continue to develop Corral. Sign Darnold to a one-year extension and let him start 2023. Eventually we put Corral on the field and see if he is going to be our future QB. If he fails, then 2024 we can use our #1 pick on Williams or Mayes, including trading up with our 2 first round picks. We shouldn't reach.

I've been a proponent of Wilks remaining our head coach. I will say this, if coming out of the bye we get destroyed in Seattle I would change my choice. Win or lose we better come out of this bye week ready to play. I don't want to see another blowout like Cincinnati.

I get your logic; however, DE is almost as important as a QB. Without Pressure on a QB, just about any QB can win games. Darnold showed that yesterday. You are also assuming that we hit on that traded pick. If you expect your GM to hit on his first couple of picks you should also assume that if there is a QB outside of the top 5 we are going to target him too. So let me ask you this. If Fitt and Morgan along with the HC (new or old) feels that Corral might be the answer or that a 2nd round pick at QB is just as good, do you trust them? These guys spend far more time than you and I (probably combined) doing their homework on every player we have on our board. I would have to trust their judgment. Just for the record, I haven't given up on Corral and think with some valuable Reps and time he can be as good as any QB coming out in this draft.

Those that want to trade Burns basically imply that we should never sign a veteran to a 2nd contract. What they'd rather do is keep under the cap so we can sign 1- or 2-year Free agents to fill gaps until we get lucky and draft another great prospect. To hell with keeping our Core together. You don't let players like this go just to save money. I find it funny that those that bitch and moan about not trading Burns are the same ones that bitch and moan that we are living in mediocrity.

Obviously, you know very little about Johnny Unitas. Unitas was tougher than any of today's QBs. Much tougher. You breathe wrong on a QB now you get flagged. There was no 2-step rule on QBs. You were just another player and many of them got rocked well after a pass. You put Unitas, Staubach, Bradshaw, Starr, Dawson and many others from the 60s and 70s in today's game. They would be upper echelon QBs and hold many of the records some of these young guys do. They are Hall of Famers but are never considered as GOATs because of the inflated numbers QBs put up now. That's another argument. From 1956 to 1960 Unitas had thrown a TD in every game for 47 games. This was done in an ERA where defenders got away with so much more than today's offensive minded rules. Not to mention they didn't protect the QB like they do today. Though the rule book has continually been modified to increase scoring, it took 52 years for this record to be broken. Think what you will but there are several QBs from the past that I would put on my team over some of the best in the game now.

Absolutely, I have talked with you several times especially about Tanking and Corral. You cannot nor will not accept that you might be wrong. Absolutely There are zero QBs in this draft that are clearly head and shoulders above everyone else. Clearly Apples and Oranges. Clausen was drafted in the 2nd round. Received 1st and 2nd string Reps in Preseason. Started several games and clearly wasn't the Answer at QB. Corral was drafted in the 3rd Round. Received very little reps even with 3rd string lines in practice. (well documented 5 minutes or less at the end of practice) Had 2 preseason games with linemen who aren't even in the league anymore. This is your typical Corral haters trying to justify drafting their favorite mancrush next year. The good thing is Stroud and Young will not be there when our pick comes in so we'll either trade down and pick up picks or draft another position of need.

As much as we would like to say we hate Rivera. He has WFT above .500 and pushing to make the playoffs with Taylor Heinke as their QB. McDermott, from the same tree, has Buffalo as a top team. You may not like the defensive side, but it does work. Salah for the Jets in another positive for defensive head coaches.

I don't agree. As you said Surtain wasn't fooled. From the replay Surtain had a clear path to undercut the throw, by double clutching, it prevented the Int but also prevented the completion.

These we great QBs for their Era. The rules favorited the defense and completion percentage would obviously be lower. It would be very interesting to see those two QBs play in this ERA. Unitas would have had some great number. Very accurate passer and a great student of the game. One of the last QBs to call his own plays.

Wilks Positives Winning at home. That's a good thing. Getting PANTHER FANS back in the house. Defense is playing lights out and keeping us in games. Has the locker room. Positives Most likely an offensive mind with imagination and can get the team to put up some points. Fresh start after a crazy 2.5 years worth of Rhule. Clean the closet. Bring in a New Head Coach. Negatives Could turn out to be a terrible hire and sets us back at least 2 years. Bringing in a different type of offense and defense that requires players whose skill set is different than what we have on the roster. Could be a total rebuild. MY TAKE First we need to forget about Wilks time in Arizona. He was given a pretty rotten hand to play with. He was never given time to build his team. Arizona's management forced Rosen on him. Arizona had their eye on Kingsbury and 3-13 was the perfect reason to dump him but not all Wilks's fault. Keep Wilks. He has the locker room and the team, IMO, love playing for him. McAdoo run first offense is OK but struggles when defenses focus on stopping the run. I would replace McAdoo with a good OC. I would want an OC that can build a good staff that when he moves on as a HC his protege continues the same offense. I'm inclined to keep Fitterer and Fits need to continue to improve our trench players. Offense and Defense. While we can't completely focus on these positions. Keeping our QB upright goes a long way in getting the best out of our QB and putting pressure on the QB for the defensive side of the ball. Fits needs to find gems in the latter rounds.

If he didn't double clutch that was probably going to be a pick 6. He also missed a wide-open DJ that probably would have scored. He had some mistakes today that he got away with because our running game was on display.

Sam played well today, and I liked what I saw especially against a good defense. That said, he looked great the first 3 games of last year and then the wheels fell off. If he were to somehow lead us to the playoffs, I still wouldn't offer him a big contract. A modest deal would be the best. If someone else wants to offer him big money, I'd take the compensation pick over a big money deal. Too much inconsistency for a big contract. If he did play well, I would not draft a QB with our 1st pick. Maybe our 2nd round pick. I would start the offseason with Darnold and Corral.

Let it go, man. Teams don't lose for draft picks. Our defense is legit and who knows with some confidence from our QB we might just win out and really make things interesting. There are 16 teams over .500. Go join their bandwagon.

I mentioned him in a post about a month ago. Surprisingly he's not the #1 TE on Georgia's team. Brock Bowers in a beast too and will be top pick when he comes out. He's a sophomore so I don't think he'll come out until next year.
